Anyone else care less about music and sports as you get older?

Oh, one of my favorite bands who have been washed up for 20+ years just put out some album that only hardcore nuthugging fans will care about very briefly? Cool, yay I guess, even though I doubt I'll waste my time beyond hearing the first song sounding boring and forgetable af.

The local sports team is on the cusp of making the playoffs! - who???

Yup. Both have much less meaning to me than in years past. I can only stomach watching sports I bet on now. Then again, nothing really turns me on anymore, even girls or money.

In some ways I feel the opposite.

I didn't give a flip about sports until my early-mid twenties when I could go to bars. Now I still don't care as much, but appreciate when a good play happens, or a certain matchup occurs. I solely care about NFL and UFC though, but not enough to know even 5% of professionals' names, srs.

Music though... yeah kinda agree OP. Who cares what rich out of touch celebrities choose to pay songwriters for. And a lot of the ones I used to like were only good long ago. For now though, if you give me a new hit from The Weeknd, I'll still bop to it.

I think as time goes by you start realizing talented people and what they create come and go, but at the core they are just people. Often as messed up or whatever as anyone else.

Think back to when you were a kid of like 12 years old with really about 3 or 4 years perspective...the athletes or musicians of the time can seem larger than life...like they walk on water. Think of kids going crazy over Bieber or a 12 year old watching MJ in his prime (Jackson or Jordan).

As you get older you realize that the people and art they create kinda comes and goes...the next big thing just around the corner.

just think...as great as one thinks this music is, it's destined to a relative historical dustbin when those who originally heard it get older and become more irrelevant/pass away. Most people don't really keep up with anything 50-60+ years old...other than those with an affinity towards history.

Never gave a chit about sports. But music used to be my whole life. After EDM died by i haven't given a chit about music at all, for the first time in my life. Really weird, tbh.

No one tells you what gettimg older is like, but everything changes, and isn't nearly as fun or exciting as it used to be.

Wut?

Actually, the older you get, the more joyful everything in your life should become.

It has been a long time since sports excited me. About all I watch anymore is a University college team, that tends to lose to often, and I have a hard time watching an entire game. This past Saturday nearly did me in, I watched two football games, sort of. I kept falling asleep during the games. I'd likely have a better time attending the games I imagine.

I'll listen to music but it almost always is music I listened to as a teen. With Spotify it is easy to do. Since nothing is new it is hard to get to excited about the music.

I've always despised watching sports and the White cucks who think they're alpha for watching joggers toss around a football.

What's really cucked are the middle age White guys that still line to watch 25yo Black guys throw around a foot ball.
Everything I post is satire.

never really cared that much about music, like what I like

sports I was big into and now I only really care about baseball and only during the playoffs. Can't even remember the last hockey or basketball game I watched.

Yes, when you are young and dumb you attribute way too much importance on things that don't really matter in life. A pretty song, an amazing play will both have zero impact on your life going forward. It's just a way to bond with other clueless morons and won't better your situation in any meaningful way.

Focus on yourself and your relationships and things that really matter. Don't waste time and effort and money chasing bullchit marketing schemes that do nothing but steal your money and make you dumber. Unless you are an aspiring musician or gifted athlete get as far away from that garbage as possible.

I tried watching an NFL last night and kept falling asleep throughout it. Must have slept through over half the game, srs.

While you were at some silly casino handing your money over to some Jewish promoter I was putting some lead down range and making sure my bushcraft and survival skills were on point for the coming apocalypse.
