Which part you going to and how long?

Imo Canggu and Ubud are now overrun with tourists and instagram posers and the traffic is chaos. Not to mention its now more expensive.

If you want the real Bali you need to get off the beaten path.

by 'real' Bali, I mean anywhere where it's not geared exclusively to tourists and heavily commercialized. There are going to be some exceptions and of course everyone has their own preferences but by and large I think most people would agree that touristic areas are not cracked up to be what they appear. IMO it's pointless to travel all the way to another country only to hang out with other tourists to experience the same stuff you can do back home - which is exactly Canggu, Kuta, and Ubud. That sh!t gets old real quick and everything negative that you can think of, traffic, higher prices, crowds, endless sameness, cafe after hipster cafe, is not worth the more than a couple of days out of your vacation.

I would recommend at the bare minimum to go somewhere for a couple of days that is NOT Canggu, Ubud or Kuta/Seminyak/ Legian. Sure, spend a few beach days there. Spend a couple of nights in the rice fields in Ubud and visit the watefalls - the rest is really crap imo. Sanur is quieter on the east coast and the beachwalk is much much better than Kuta side. Fcuk Canggu.

Go to Kintamani. Worth at least a couple nights if you can stay at a nice hotel with a great view. Go up north to Lovina, drive along the coast down to Candi Dasa.

the rest of your post I can't argue with, again everyone has their own preferences.

Also OP -
aside from a few bucks, change your money once you land. Exchange rates at the airport are not too bad. Get a SIM card there also - it will be the same or nearly the same as in town and you can activate it immediately.

download Whatsapp if you haven't already

download Grab and Gojek apps they will come in handy if you don't have a scooter and need a ride or for ordering food.
