I only ever wore one to shop in stores, took it off immediately after coming out. It made me hot AF and steamed up my glasses too. Wouldn't do it again, especially now since we know that they do nothing to help unless you have an N95.

At least that was a reasonable expectation of employers and businesses at the time. It's an inconvenience that doesn't harm you. Requiring the vaccine as a condition of employment is beyond oppressive. Yeah it was approved by the FDA, but in like a year, when all the other vaccines we require people to get have like 30+ years of use, testing, and data. Yeah you could apply for religious or medical exemptions, but if a guy didn't have a medical condition and wasn't religious and said "I just don't feel that this vaccine has been tested enough and I don't feel comfortable injecting it into my body" he could lose his job for that, and that's seriously fukked up.

Fair point, but I was making a point about reasonable precautions and expectations, especially when faced with the vitriol of Covid crazies. We know now that a mask doesn't help at all. But at the time it was a far more reasonable expectation than coercing people into injecting a very new substance into their bodies. From the POV of an average person at the time, it's just a mask, it will make you hot and sweaty, but it might help you from spreading your germs and it's not an injection of something you're uncomfortable with. There were even medical professionals praising the efficacy of masking. Although as the pandemic went on, Fauci at least flipped his story on the efficacy of masks several times. Again, my point here is hindsight is 20/20, but it was always unreasonable of employers to coerce employees to take the vaccine. I juxtaposed the mask example as a reasonable expectation because it is relatively low risk compared to the vaccine. Obviously knowing what I do now I would not acquiesce to either.

not totally true hospitals ive been to just have a little station that people walk past even nurses and doctors not wearing them

I Viruses are to small to be stopped by masks. THey do seem to give some people a psychological lift though, for better or worse.
