Brb some wingless critter develops an extremely small double winged feature. This somehow was enough of an evolutionary advantage to pass along and pass along. For generations non flying wings was a total advantage so it continued to become a huge factor and more advantages. Finally...the wings were ready to fly.

Like I get the advantage of flying..but that massive time period to get there makes no sense.

By that same logic why isn't every guy packing an 8 inches? Why isn't every girl 10/10 face...etc.

I mean, you can theoretically explain everything logically, because this universe has laws and rules to follow and everything can be, theoretically, traced to its origins and its reasons to be, but still, that doesnt take away from the fact that the entire freaking universe and every system and sub-system inside it is pretty damn ridiculous.
