A red pill on leg training(real talk)(feel talk)

Mike O’hearn has recently got me thinking about this. He is a serious form nazi, has lifted for decades and taken copious amounts of steroids. Even with the most perfect form and healing potions he has still just had to have stem cells in his knees. I think it's only a matter of time before wear and tear rekts your knee's connective tissues and the people doing PPL twice a week are going to be wheelchair bound way earlier than whats even normal now. There will be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of ronnie coleman walking cripples out there with half the gains. It's already over if you've done PPL for 5 years, sorry.

Nice. Thanks for giving me more of an excuse to not really focus on my legs.

Yeah idk once you can squat 315 you will pretty much never end up with chicken legs.

I did too much mark riptoe BS and got all TRex shaped a decade or so ago. Just use skiing/running/biking for leg workouts ever since then. Have fuked up herniated discs n chit so would rather just keep legs functional instead of trying to grow them.

giant dudes on tons of gear have more muscles and ligaments and open themselves up to serious injury

even a small trenA cycle of like 200mg per week will have you squatting 40% more within a month. Your muscles and CNS love it, but your joints tendons and ligaments aren't ready

Had chitty knees for years, decided to hit up hack squats in the hopes that what is normally a difficult movement would finish off the injury once and for all and I could get surgery - knees have never been stronger since I started

Most people have really chit running form and run on pavement.

During rehab for ACL I made sure to get back into it with only staying on the balls of my feet and never letting your heels touch while running long distances is game changing.

I had been conscience of keeping feet below my mass to preserve knees when I used to run and was striking midfoot/occasionally heel. But just keeping everything on the balls of your feet and your knees feel amazing.

Pics of legs?

Srs, that sounds awessome if I could have decent looking legs still. I don't care about the # I can lift, I just want my legs to look like I lift.

You only need to do legs once a week if you go hard enough, plus don't lift like a powerlifter. You can make gains working out semi-heavy and for a pump. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Most peoples' lower backs give out before their knees. Sedentary way of living + tight and imbalanced musculature is a ticking time bomb when it's combined with heavy & loaded hip-hinge movements like a squat or a deadlift.

There was a period of my life where I just could not have leg DOMS due to certain things I was involved in so I experimented with training legs much less frequently or just less intensely. My legs never changed size. I'm sure I could maintain 100% of my size just hiking and cycling and stuff. It's growing them that requires more work.

****ty knees usually a result of something imbalanced around calve, ankle, IT band, hips, feet pronation or supinated, etc.

To many variables for poor knee tracking.

There actually are ways to increase longevity to the knees and any other part of the body

You need to:

1- Make sure you're getting the right vitamins/nutrients/raw building meterials for your joints including vitamin D for absorption + all the essential, fats, amino acids and minerals

2- Do specific tendon/ligament strengthening exercises such as ATG Split Squats, Backwards sled pulls, nordic curls, slant board squats and many other exercises that bring MASSIVE blood flow to joints

3- Make sure you're mobile using the correct form, especially on technical exercises like squats, if you're not mobile you'll fuk something up, if you think you're mobile you're probably not

Knees Over Toes guy is a great example of how you CAN strengthen weak joints and make them very very strong and resilient

Mike O'hearn is a classic example of someone with godlike genetics who cannot get injured as he's been lifting for nearly 50 years w/ out doing the above specific exercises..

99% of people doing what Mike has done would have had multiple injuries by now and this is why the above special exercises are essential as a long term lifter

So true.

For me and not just lifting legs if I’m getting any kind of pain that’s not “good” pain I just don’t do the lift. It’s not worth it and I’m old. I want to be healthy not reked.
Also for me I get a lot more out of 8-15 reps depending on the muscle group and exercise.

we could see a lot of people in pain with joint problems within 20 or years.

all this weight lifting and adding muscle weight stuff first started getting super popular with normies about 25 years...not long before the creation of this site.

perhaps a good time to invest in companies that do joint replacement?

Late 50’s boomer at my job squats 2 plates for atg reps every single day. Bro has immaculate form aswell.

Also rides half hour bike ride to work every single day including during freezing Norwegian winter.

Doesnt seem to have any knee issues & has a sick tear drop quad for his age

1x per week legs and I stick with low volume high intensity. My legs are decent. I’m not a powerlifter and i typically do either smith squats or SSB. Majority of my quad training is focused on leg extensions, which is the GOAT quad exercise and for hammies leg curls
