Baldur's Gate 3 - any good for console? Also why so good overall?

Somebody explain what makes the game soo good? It looks a bit mobile-ish

Not trying to hate or troll, just want to convince myself to buy it since I believe it is good

It's rated as the second best game of ALL TIME on opencritic. And just got GOTY, of course it's good and especially on consoles imo.

Incredible story, memorable characters, challenging combat, unlimited replay ability, lots of sex, violence, you can play the whole game naked with your cock flinging around in combat. What's not to like?

Do you like RPG's with branching choices, well acted characters, turn based combat where your only limit is your imagination, fully customizable party members, and the ability to roleplay hard as fuk?

Want to be a goody two shoes? Mass murderer? Holy Paladin? Shar worshipping cleric? Robin Hood?

You can pretty much do whatever you think sounds logical.

Seems to be The Witcher 3 of the decade so far... complex RPG from smallish passionate dev that made an insanely good third game.

Will definitely play at some point but backlog is too big.

And that's exactly why it's good. It doesn't try to cater to everyone.

Game actually plays BETTER with a controller than it does with a keyboard/mouse. Only problem is radials get a bit messy and they suck to rearrange

My gut instincts tell me a game like this would work a bit more seamlessly with mouse and keyboard, but I got it on the ps5 and it works impressively well.

yeah i was a bit worried about an unideal experience, but after playing with controller i feel the exploration is much more fun. Only annoying part is splitting teammates

2nd playthrough is so much easier. I eviscerated the githyanki patrol in act 1 at lvl 5. I did bring the ogres in but only at the end so I could slaughter them too and get the INT helm for my bard/wiz.

I'm playing on tactician dark urge. My character is now a sword bard 6 abdjure wizard 2 with dual wield and sharpshooter. Dual wielding 2 magic hand crossbows that hit for around 60 or so unless I crit. Got 4th lvl bard spells and can scribe any lvl wizard spell. Mostly using lightning bolt and hold person. Dual wielding a crit knife and hill giant club with gauntlets of dexterity.

Karlach is 6 zerker barb 2 thief with tavern brawler. Have about 10 javelins some magic spears and some tridents. That fury bonus throw that knocks people on their ass is ridiculous. The farther you throw the harder it hits. I had her at the top of the stairs on grymforge throwing down on the golem. She was hitting him for 50-60 per throw and knocking him on his ass.

Laezel is 6 Warminster 2 thief respect her to tavern brawler too its too damn good. But she also has the githyanki silver 2 handed sword from kithrack Voss, command drop weapon spell and you can get it in act 1.

Shadow heart is 6 tempest cleric wizard 2 chucking overcharged lightning bolts for ridiculous dmg. Might respec her to sharpshooter too when I can find some more hand crossbows.

Wouldn't pc be better just because that let's you use mods from nexusmods.com?

These. Basically if you enjoy a lot of freedom and can change the story of the game based on your choices, then this is it.

I played BG 1 and 2 multiple times on PC(and Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Torment which are basically the same in terms of gameplay/style), and was worried about the PS5 controller, but so far, it works well. Easier even to move around. The wheel and whatever becomes second nature.

Hard disagree. They did a decent job with console support but KB+M is still the superior way to play this game by a LARGE margin.

Yep

I mean its great, pretty intuitive and does the job really well ... but now that I have a gaming pc, I really cannot go back to playing crpgs on a controller. kbm is just so much better in every aspect.

If I was a console only cel I'd have managed and enjoyed it, since I played Divinity 2 multiple times on PS4 but then I got a pc and never went back to ps4 after that lol.

one of the most enjoyable things is that if you don't do TONS of savescrumming to get the exact outcome you want in scenarios, your subsequent playthroughs will have very, very different things happen throughout the game.

My first playthrough I found a village that was burnt to a crisp. Turns out I walked too close to the zone and didn't get the 'i smell smoke' queue. Next playthrough I went there earlier and there was a village to save.
