Metabolism like people discuss it is complete nonsense

Skinny people don't have some magic metabolism that allows them to eat as much as they want. The vast vast majority of skinny people are intuitive eaters who tend to only eat when they have a very strong physical urge. They also know their bodies and know when to cut way back the next day if they have one or two days of big calories. What's bull**** about this is skinny people don't realize their appetite is way way below average and so they tell their fat friends that they eat whatever they want and still remain skinny. Fat friends think their skinny friends eat McDonald's every meal when in reality skinny friend eats McDonald's for lunch and skips breakfast and dinner. Overweight people are incapable of skipping meals

Overweight people have completely destroyed their hunger hormones and their relationship with food is atrocious. They think they're hungry 24-7 and don't want to stop eating until they're completely stuffed (instead of skinny people who tend to eat slow and stop eating once the intense urge is gone). Fat people are basically food addicts who are incapable of cutting calories way back because they use food emotionally

The ironic thing is fat people have way higher metabolism than skinny people. Your bodyweight is number one component of BMR. Honestly I'm convinced if you had most skinny people really measure how much they eat, most of them would show they only eat 1500 to 2000 calories a day and vice versa with fat people. Fat people eat 3000 to 4000 calories a day easily

He posts this every day.

Car salesman you need a new schtick.

There are plenty of lean people who love to eat but have enough will power and discipline to not stuff their face 24/7.

There are also obese people who have messed up their hormones so badly that they don't stuff their face 24/7 and maintain their weight or gain when not eating 3-5K cals a day.

You can't lump everyone under one umbrella.

No there isn't

They've done studies on this. Every obese person, when truly counting what they eat, eats 3k+ calories a day. I'm talking 99%. I don't care about your one exception

You're saying every single obese person in the world but one. lol I'm not refuting that obese people overeat. I'm just saying that they're not all stuffing their faces 24/7. Just like not all lean people have no appetite.

I eat until I’m stuffed. But I do OMAD typically

It takes discipline to allow yourself to be hungry most of the time.

Hes jut a moron. I do OMAD and work a physical job, and have a hard time staying lean. But I also have a underactive thyroid and insulin resistance from years of eating bad food.

But according to him we are all the same metabolically and obese people just eat non stop.

Obviously he is not wrong and it always comes down to calories in/out but the amount of effort a obese person needs to put in vs a person who has never been overweight in the past is not the same. That obe will be metabolically damaged compared to a healthy 25yr old.

Im guessing he thinks that as we age our metabolism stays the same as well.

My question is then, how many calories do I need to eat in a day to lose weight? Since its a constant for everyone....

We're talking about the vast majority of people. Like 95 to 99%

I was 5'10 250 lbs in high school. I used to cry about my metabolism

In reality, I'm a hardcore binge eater who would snack mindlessly. Nowadays, I eat only when I have a strong urge and have lost a lot of weight

Car salesman no longer posts daily about being "hansom", rich, and unable to get a woman since he's married, so I guess he's coming up with new topics to post about daily.

Johnnydeep posts the same stuff daily.

I wonder what mental disorder causes this. OCD?

Never said we're all the same but there's no magic metabolism that allows skinny people to overeat

I said most fat people actually have better metabolism than skinny people - they just binge eat and snack mindlessly

No bro you are missing the point. People use metabolism wrong in the sense they think its some magical, variable furnance where some people are just scortching energy for no reason and others barely burn energy.

The reality is when lean tissue, overall weight and body size, gender, etc are accounted for theres less than 15% difference in BMRs across populations

The two biggest determinant's of energy burn (ie metabolism) are body size first, followed by non exercise activity.
Fat people will always burn way more energy than skinnier people at the BMR level.
NEAT will be the variable part per individual, as will exercise

But yes. OP is right... metabolism is a garbage bag term, and really the majority of what determines how much energy you burn is body size and total movement through the day; whereas appetite likely explains the difference btw people naturally "skinny" and those who are not.

100%

Appetite is such a hard thing to encapsulate

A lot of people claim to eat whatever they want and stay skinny but "whatever they want" to them is 1500 calories a day. Other people claim they don't eat much but consistently eat 3k calories a day

Response to this Legz? Not saying I even agree, just that it's funny:
