What kind of pets do you have?

In this household, we have 1 cat, 1 dog, and some mice running around in the walls.

No.I don't know that I'll ever get another dog. Once my knee is healed I'll prob just go back to volunteering at a dog rescue to get my doggo fix.

Dogs are a big commitment. Literally everyone I've known who took a break from owning dogs has talked about how nice it is not to constantly have to worry about their bathroom schedule 24/7, finding someone to look after them if you want to be away from home for anything longer than a day trip, not having to deal with the way dogs are with company, etc.

The one you foster and you make room for another dog to go to the rescue.

They are a huge commitment. I also don't have a fenced back yard and never did for the 10.5 half years I had my dog. Walking 3-5 times a day in hot, freezing or rainy weather was not fun. He was worth it but I'm not interested in doing that now. Maybe one day when I have a fenced yard I'll think about getting another dog.

I'd never get a dog without a fenced in yard. Had 2 dogs I did that all of what you described with back in my 20's. It was one thing then, but at this point I'd want to just let them run around the yard for the vast majority of their excercise needs.

Yeah, I believe that they need to get walked outside of a yard but it would be nice to have the choice if it's raining to not have to do it. So even if I had a fenced yard I'd still try to walk them about once a day. I did it for so long but now it just seems extra daunting plus we have a lot of plans to travel and that is just a whole other inconvenience of trying to find someone to take care of the dog.
