Because Oly lifters are real athletes unlike power lifters.

They're not really. And it's just inefficient.

Not as much in this country but internationally Oly lifting is where countries will put their A level athletes into. A mediocre Oly lifter can total elite in powerlifting with very little training and jump higher than a lot of NFL players. Explosive power is the one thing you can't really improve on and Oly lifters have probably the most in the entire world. Outside the NFL it probably has the 2nd best talent pool of pure athleticism.
