What are the most common things people lie about?
How much they walk their dogs.
"I walked old Fido 3 - 4x per day, rain or shine, cold or hot, snowy or windy!". No you didn't. We all know you didn't do that. Maybe that might be believable if it was an outdoorsy retiree with a dog or something, but it's always people like single moms of 2 - 3 kids making those claims. In reality, they walked Fido 3 times once during the first week of them getting the dog, and that's the claim that stuck even though Fido was promptly relegated to 1 - 2 walks per week shortly after they started getting bored of having a dog.

How many hours they work.
If they complain about working 60 hour weeks, it's probably usually 50 with the occasional standard 40 hour week thrown into the mix. If they say they work 90 hour weeks, it's probably closer to 70 - 80, more often than not.
College aged people love to lie about how much they work, too. I remember people back then bragging about how they "worked 3 jobs at once on top of going to school full-time!". Then if you dig just a hair deeper, it turns out they were putting in about 20 hours total between 3 gig type high school/college tier jobs that are arguably less demanding than working a part-time fast food job somewhere.
