I've hit that stage of life where people close to me have started dropping like flies
Seems like every year, another uncle/aunt or two and/or friend are gone. Friends less so, but those are getting slightly more common when considering the total. As sad as it is, what can you do but make the most of it, right? Still, I miss these people. Look back with so much regret about not spending more time with them.

Only grandparents in my family so far. Did get word yesterday one of my former high school teachers died the other day. I only know of one old high school friend who has died. Don't really keep in contact with anyone.

Yep. Every year is another loss or two. It sucks. It’s a good time to spend an afternoon with older people in the family. It’s also a good time to start remembering the names of your nieces and nephews. You’re the old guy in the family, or will be soon.

For the friends closer to your age (53) did they live unhealthy lifestyles or was it unexpected illnesses?

It sucks.
I don't know if I've ever had someone in my life die where I didn't feel some huge regret about spending enough time with them or telling them I love them.
I try to tell people I love them now.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Now that I'm in my 30's I'm more aware of how little time I actually have left with much of my family. For years now I've been away from my home state for work, so I barely see them as is.
I can only hope in the coming years I can go visit them or they can come to me for atleast a few days.
Life is so sad and cruel.
Just think about random family members I have who I'll probably never see again before they die.

The battle between good and evil has been going on since before we were born, and will continue long after we’re gone
Exercise will get you through times of ill health better than no exercise will get you through times of good health.

Most people take chit care of their health and have literally no family around to care for them when they fall ill or to encouraged them to get better. Take care of your family when they fall ill and they'll live for a long time and pass peacefully.

yeah people are always like "I'd hate to live forever because I don't want to watch all of my family and friends die" and i'm like "fool that sh*t's about to be happening regardless! either that, or you will be one of the ones that drop from someone else's life"
