How hardcore are you about defending your political beliefs?

Like if someone says something you don’t like or don’t agree with, will you leap into a defensive tirade?

Depends on the vibe I get from them. If I think they'll listen or consider my opinion it I might oblige, if not I don't waste my time unless I'm wasted. When it comes to these conversations people just wanna "win" so overall I don't care that much.

I don't debate people or look for opportunities to spout my views.
My take....I have no desire to debate or convince anyone of my perspectives on any subject as it just invites unwanted drama to ones' day to day life.
It's just mental masturbation and negative energy....but, one does get to hear their own voice.

Plus, that violates #8 & #9 of myRTLB(rules to live by) list:
8)Talk less, listen more....just because one has an opinion that does mean it needs to be expressed or that anyone actually wants to hear it.
9)Cherry pick one's battles in life. Only choose the ones that will most likely achieve the positive end result one is looking for.

But, that's just me.

I want to but I am really trying to just let that urge go and just be ok with someone else having a different opinion. It's going really well and I'm finding it a better way to be. I try find and focus on the things I agree on with others and it is a much calmer and peaceful way to be. Nobody wins an argument, someone wins a fight. If someone wants to engage with me its friendly respect both ways or we fight, no arguments and no ghey escalation dance. Sloots just get ignored.

No but I will call bull**** when I hear it being spouted.

Was at walmart not too long ago when eggs were like $7 a carton. Looked at the older guy next to me and he said that it was because of Trump. Said gas was Trumps fault too. Then another old guy jumped in and agreed with him.

I am pretty laid back and fun loving but no way was I going to let that slide. Had to put them both in check.

There was a time when I was more apt to argue with people over things like politics and religion, but that stuff tends to get you nowhere fast IRL unless it's tied to your actual job somehow. You seldom ever change any minds about anything anyway, so it ends up being a lot of arguing for nothing most of the time.

Bingo. Nobody ever stops on a dime and shifts their political/religious views very easily based on what someone else said. They develope their beliefs and views over decades, and I've never had an arguement where someone started legitimately seeing or caring about my end in a discussion. They're just there to argue, and so would most of us usually be so, it we're being honest about it. Better to let people flap their gums and quietly draw your own conclusions to yourself about what they say.
