Would you spend 700 dollars on hand crafted boots?

Im thinking about it.

Thinking about getting a pair of Nicks boots.

Anyone have experience with buying handcrafted boots?

I spent over 300 dollars on some red wing boots. Probably my limit for spending on shoes.

The kicker here is they take you money, and you don’t get your boot for a few months till it’s done being made, but on the upside the boot is custom to your feet.

Sure. Unless you're using them daily in a work environment that is particularly tough on leather and destroys boots quickly, they will probably last you for your entire life.

Was thinking recently about doing a little new boot goofin' around town in some Luccheses. But they'd only get worn a few time a year. Not sure if worth.

Hand crafted and handmade are two different things.

Hand crafted means they still use machines but add in some personal touches per pair by hand.

Handmade are just what it says, some guy and a needle and leather.

To my understanding, Nick's and similar makers are handmaking the boots except insofar as they use a machine to do the welting for practical purposes (easier to resole more times so that the boots last longer). Handwelting is more for high-end dress shoes that aren't likely going to take as much of a beating over time.

if I really liked the last and the fit was good I would consider it. They would really need to be nice leather - I like Horween and the look of a polished boot. As it is now though, I haven't worn any of my boots in a a couple of years due to travelling and being in hot climates.

depends on how much i'd need them, but aren't all boots pretty much hand made in some way? it's like calling stuff "name brand clothing." it all comes from some type of brand.

Expensive because the quality and workmanship is to the point they will last me a lifetime and be super comfortable, yes.

Years ago, spent $200+ on some redwings and they were so damn uncomfortable and never fit me right. I left them someplace and never went back for them.

No. Once you get over the $300 mark or so on boots, you're pretty much flushing money down the toilet.

You probably just had bad shoe insoles in the boots. Insoles will make or break a pair of nice Redwings, srs.
