In previous discussions, even FREE IDs was still "racist" (god forbid you actually expect them to show up to wherever they would be issued from, in order to obtain one) or whatever according to Patty and not good enough.

Also, I don't think many people in favor of strict voter ID laws would have an issue with there being options for free Government issued IDs in exchange.

It is racially (or more specifically, economically) biased somewhat, but better than not issuing a free one.

It is still a form of voter suppression, but it could also reduce voter fraud (of which there isn't substantial evidence it even happens enough to justify this).

Let's be honest though. Trump did carry out an insurrection and should be banned if we take the law literally. But it's a bad idea politically. Also, the law is vague. For example, it doesn't require anyone to be convicted, nor does it even define insurrection legally. At the very least, this will lead to a clarification of this vague law.

I've made my thoughts on how best to deal with Trump pretty clear I think, and I'd advocate for that option, but I also oppose Biden and his warmongering so...tough times, man.

The constitution only gives states the ability to hold an election, count votes, and prosecute for fraud. It cannot add additional qualifications or disqualifications. The only way to change qualifications is through a super majority within the congress, or some precedence by the SCOTUS. States must apply the qualifications of 35 years old, natural born citizen, been a resident for 14 years. So the states are using the 14th amendment to say “He’s disqualified because of an insurrection”, but they cannot DQ him at a state level. It must come from the Supreme Court and/or congress, because this extends passed the constitutional authority of the states.

The issue here, as with all constitutional issues, are “implied” interpretations of the constitution. The argument that, even if it’s not written, it can imply something. This is how commies and socialists make every argument when they want to violate our rights.
