And I absolutely despise when folks posture on mental health. Drives me crazy. Its been the fad for awhile now. Often, the two go hand-in-hand. Folks will claim some level of victimhood resulting in depression and/or anxiety, then talk about how they rose up through the struggle like a phoenix from the ashes, and they'll do so in the most narcissistic, ego-stroking manner possible. Just to place themselves above you. So you'll know that they're a superior human being. I mean, come on now. These people. I swear. One day I'm going to run out into the forest and never look back. What a glorious day that'll be.
This is truly inspirational brah, Now i'm ready to take on the world.

When I worked in Sales there were some good ones such as Les Brown and Brian Tracy. You need motivation in a job where people constantly tell you no.

But even now it hit me out of the blue to get Les Brown’s audiobook and wow! He makes me feel a million times better about myself.

The cool thing you can choose to just not participate. You don’t have to let it bug you. You are choosing to.

If you listened to the modern inspiration talk you would know.

Do whatever you want pfhaggot.

Even if that is getting annoyed at something so silly like how other people find happiness. I would recommend wanting to do something else. I recommend peace and compassion at all times. But you can continue being a grumpy boomer if you choose.

I get what you're saying but really, where are you seeing this? Online, social media? Block the profiles. snooze the friends who continually post this stuff. Don't interact with them. Very quickly your algorithm will update. You're just being a victim yourself by saying this stuff annoys you meanwhile not taking the steps to get away from it.

Ugh! Don't get me started, Ausaric. "Live your best life" "Be your true self" "You've got this!" Yeah, and everything is a "journey." Had diarrhea in a porter-john and it was such a "journey" and "unique life experience." Good lord.

If my hands smell fine, there's no point. I don't know how many times we have to have this conversation. I'd never shake your hand anyway, so what business is it of yours, skipper?

Its family, its neighbors, its co-workers, any kind of community event...I know a lot of those on this forum are pretty isolated socially, but those who regularly interact with society surely have to be annoyed by this. Either that, or they're active participants and unaware of how annoying they are.

I never understand what you're talking about, partner. What's "reverse" about it? Understand, I'm expressing a genuine annoyance in hopes of finding others who can relate. I'm not trying to promote myself as an inspirational figure, or as an uninspirational figure, then self-stroking at the thought of others looking up to me. You probably need to elaborate further, because I'm not understanding what you're trying to say. Seems like you're attempting to flip the tables on me without proper footing. Did I touch a nerve?

I thought you ended this thread OP, just lol.

I probably on't see the family, neighbors, etc. since I participate in this behavior myself.

I wasn't aware of it until I went into sales.

The job market is rough, relationships are rough, family can be rough, especially when they age, so I can either try to be positive to just lay in bed depressed.

What would you chose @DonVonDuck?

“Here in my garage, just bought this new Lamborghini here. It’s fun to drive up here in the Hollywood hills. But you know what I like more than materialistic things? Knowledge. In fact, I’m a lot more proud of these seven new bookshelves that I had to get installed to hold two thousand new books that I bought. It’s like the billionaire Warren Buffett says, 'the more you learn, the more you earn.'”
