Agreed, only reason I went Palisade is cause there is a significantly lower demand for them, so dealerships aren't tacking 5K on top of MSRP and getting away with it. I got mine for $41K brand new, which is like $3-4K below MSRP.

Only thing I got 'duped' by the dealership on is the extended warranty. It was 10/100K for powertrain, 5/60K for limited, 3/36K for electronics. For like $2,000 I got the warranty to be 10/100K for all of those things

Jeep has upped their game recently on the interior though. That was always the crappy part of owning a grand cherokee. They didn't even have car play until like 2022 models.

It's just almost all of those soccer mom vehicles look the same. Who cares about the badge. Even the Lamborghini looks like a turd. But you'll notice the trackhawk. Hard to miss 1000 horsepower.

OK it's 700 not 1,000. It's the Hellcat engine. But yeah, probably a beast to drive compared to all the 300 WHP soccer mom SUVs driving around. 90% of my driving is city so I basically didn't care at all about power. Don't have anything to tow so didn't really care much about towing capacity either. If I did I would've probably considered a truck or a tahoe/suburban/expedition

Depends on the tune. Its pretty easy to squeeze a little more horsepower out of those.

That's fair. Buddy of mine has 3 kids and he got a minivan recently. He's balding now too. It's actually really funny to look at. He's good at self-deprecating though and we have fun ribbing on him.

Saw this yesterday and the minivan comment was my first thought. We've been in minivans for around 12 years at least. Agree on sliding doors being huge. Just makes really good access for buckling into car seats. They also tend to have more cargo space for the size. I have 5 kids though, so it was either minivan or jump up to a full-size SUV for us. Suburbans are not nearly as easy to drive and park as compared to a minivan. I'm a year out from my kids starting to move off on our own and we'll be moving away from minivans afterwards. My daily is a truck though, I just drive the minivan when we're all together. If we had three, I'd have probably stuck with a midsized SUV with AWD. We have snow though and I'm thinking you're down south so that isn't a consideration.

Yes, the KIA Hyundai hate is silly. Top of reliability and safety on the higher models. I would have stretched the budget and gotten a GV70 instead.

The dealer I got my G70 from does 20 year/200,000 mile.

That's only if you pay the most recognized tuner in the history of tuning to do it. Probably 15k in parts and very easy shade tree job.

If I didn't have 3 kids I would've eventually gotten the G70. I really love the previous body style but the new one is pretty solid too. The GV70 doesn't have 3 rows, I think. The GV80 does but it starts at nearly $60K.

Kia is on every top 10 list I just searched. But more importantly, that's for all cars. SUV's are less reliable than mid-size sedans, no news there. Lexus' LS and NX series cars are bulletproof but none of those models will have what I need. If I was simply going for the most reliable vehicle I'd get a tacoma and drive it for 500K miles with no oil changes.


Hyundai/Kia figured out a solid midsize SUV that competes with all other brands in their bracket, looks good, and is cheaper to boot. Toyota mid-size SUVs don't even have 3rd rows. You gotta get a sequoia and they start at nearly double the price of the Palisade.

I doubt very seriously you can even buy the parts from Dodge to do this yourself. If you can, the aftermarket markup on them will be insane, you're probably looking at 8-10K for the supercharger alone, and it will 1000% void your warranty if Hennessey doesn't do it.

I don't need a 3rd row but if I did, I'd probably look at a CX90 for a kid-hauler:



I like the Palisade/Telluride but we plan on buying another Mazda in the future. Probably will end up with a CX5/CX50.

Look at it from a reliability perspective, think 4 or 5 of top 10 most reliable cars in 2022 were Hyundais.
