Moved back in with my dad in my small hometown about an hour drive from any real city 2 years back to start a mobile welding service because I didn't wanna have to work another job while doing this. It hasn't been a total waste as my business picked up from where I started it a good bit and I learned a lot about running a business but at the same time it has mostly sucked and if it wasn't for that I'd say it was a waste of 2 years. My social life has basically gone down the drain being in a small town. I occasionally see friends in the nearby cities when I visit but thats about it. I never meet girls anymore either. All of my friends that I knew here moved or are married with kids by now. No music scene or anything cool like that here.

The most obvious option would be to move back to the city I lived in where I have friends but I am also kind of looking for new friends who have similar hobbies and vision to mine. People I can start a band with or something. Also that city is way too libtarded and really pretentious about it and living there is really expensive.

Any suggestions? Anyone been in a situation similar to mine? Any advice is appreciated

Yeah, I mean if your business is established enough where you are confident in money coming in, go for it. Unless you have a family, living far outside of cities is really bad.

The thing is I kind of like the space and scenery of the country and doing outdoor things like shooting guns, hiking, swimming in river passes in the mountains but the isolation and lack of social life and uneventfulness is just terrible if you're a young single guy. My ideal would be like somewhere in the country to where I could get to the city in like 20 minutes or something.

Business is still kind of feast or famine is another thing. Money is good when its good but it gets slow sometimes and I have to save onto my money for when it's like that. Looking into a part time job for this reason

Yeah, then I think you need to move within a 15 min drive of a city. Being an hour away from things puts a serious damped on life, and honestly with technology nowadays you need to be closer to the action. Living too long away from hubs of innovation puts you at a pretty serious disadvantage.

Yesterday I had to drive through this tradie area like 30 minutes from my house, and it was seriously like going back in time a bit. People driving beat up cars and just going through the motions. Eventually being around that constantly will pull you down.

An hours drive to a big city isn’t that far. I live about an hour out of a large city and still work in the city a lot, and can go there on weekends and enjoy what the city has to offer then go back home and enjoy quiet country solitude.
