It's not that it's not a lot of money....it is......but in all honesty at my age, I wouldn't quit working.

I'd pay off the house, invest most of it, probably buy a newer vehicle and keep working for another 10-12 years. "retire" around 50 and coast/live well.

I've seen people blow through $700k in 5-6 years and have nothing to show for it. I currently work with people who have more than that invested or are sitting on several millions from inheritance and show up to work every day making $140k/year.

$1 - 2 million is enough for a smart person to make that money work for them and grow. It's enough to "get into the game" and see returns that are significant. If you live below those means you will compound your wealth. This is how all common millionaires make it, they just get that first influx of capital.

Sure bud, you're a self-proclaimed white male that's an incel larping on a forum as an Asian sloot. Lmao.

You must be more desirable than athletes and celebrities. Keep coping.

$2M isn't enough to retire at age 30 but it's enough to work whatever job you want free of financial stress.

$4M is enough to retire at any age, as long as you're not trying to live in a wealthy area of a tier 1 city.

It's simple math, there's no need for all this debate.

Obviously the future is unpredictable, but if you use history and assume that's the best predictor we have going forward, the math works like this.

4% is known as the safe withdrawal rate. Meaning, you can withdraw 4% of your invested money (assuming it's in something like the S&P500) and spend it each year, and most likely, you won't run out of money for like 30-50 years.

If you move it to like 3.6% withdrawal rate, you'll most likely never run out of money, and there's a good chance your nest egg grows. So just use somewhere between 3.5-4% withdrawal rate and adjust based on how the economy is doing and you'll probably never run out of money.

See above.

$2m at 4% is about $80,000/year. Taxes would be small since it's mostly long-term gains tax, probably $70k/year or more take-home. If you have a mortgage to pay, that might be tight. If your house is paid off, you can retire on this.

If your house is paid off then it's $2M + the home equity which is $513,000 on average, aka $2.5M

The equity of your home isn't a stock, you don't get a return on it. For this calculation, you only use your invested money and you ignore your equity in a home.
