You have to figure that their entire national identity is based around maple syrup.

if you say you had pancakes this morning with maple syrup on them, there is a 100% chance every canadian within earshot will say something about "real maple syrup"

The only way to lower immigration if Canadians actually made more babies

Immigration is the only reason Canadians have any kind of pension and there is tax revenue. If there was no immigration, Canada would be in a 10+ year economic depression by now.

Forced cultural shift IMO by way of diluting the cohesive national body to the detriment of the people for the benefit of the State.

the following might be facile, but w/e:

1. Canada has a COL problem. Housing looks expensive AF. It's been historically treated as an asset that only increases in value due to suppressed supply and grossly out of whack increased demand. Interest rates were kept suppressed for 20 years. Money was free. People, including foreign investors, treated Canadian real estate as an investment that cannot be beaten. They amassed huge debts. They were right -- the returns on real estate were exponential relative to other investments, including business investment. This has produced a vicious cycle.

2. Canadians have a demographic problem. They're not reproducing. This is likely a consequence of the out-of-this-world COL. They work longer hours for less pay, likely a further consequence of diminished capital investment into other sectors BUT real estate. They cannot afford to **** to reproduce. This demographic problem has consequences for both taxes and pensions, but also supplying labour to entry level jobs in deadend industries. Canadian economy appears to be dominated by protected corporate franchises that rely on unending labour. This is filled by newcomers.

3. The government appears to be engaging in short-term solution thinking to address that demographic problem by increasing immigration to never before seen rates. Canadian immigration is currently grossly out of whack with historical precedent and that of peer nations. This increase in immigration fuels the COL problem.

It's a catch 22 situation... Except it's not. Societies need to balance the present with the future. Just like everyone does in so many aspects of their lives. The difference is that the liberals and globalists are robbing the future so they can be richer.
