I can't quite post bullchit theories on the stock market as well as you can and claim to be a genius because I was correct about a 50/50 call. Have you ever posted screenshots of your earnings? I don't think you ever did, so kindly continue prancing around like a pseudointellectual. People like you are a dime a dozen, nobody is impressed.

+1 to my ignore list, should've done what Carbon did way back when everyone in that thread realized you were a crap poster.

Not only was I correct in buying puts on NVDA, just like I said in my post, I bought them again lol.

Bought puts off the top it fell to $450 and then I bought puts again when it went back to $500 lol.

Not only was I right, I called my shot and tried to help you at the same time lol.

I LOVE naps, and had to do them at lunchtime when I had Covid, but people knew I was sick. How can you do that if someone might ping you with something urgent?

I can tell you that currently I am working around 10 hours per week making good money, and I find that I have too much time. I'm basically living the lifestyle of a retired person, oddly. I don't like having so much time because I'm unmotivated to effectively use it. I feel that it's the same concept as having too much money; having too much money causes most people to value their money less and subsequently spend it in irresponsible ways. When I had a job that required a full 40 hours a week, I was much more mindful of my time and made the most of it.

I would say that the reason I don't want early retirement is that I believe in having a purpose to my life; not that a career as an engineer fulfills that purpose, but that there is likely a more interesting line of work that I might legitimately enjoy and be willing to devote my time towards. People like George Soros for example are still working in their 90s, and I somewhat envy that kind of life because they have something to keep them going. I hope to learn something that can get me deeply interested such that I never truly have the desire to retire.

If I had enough money to retire? I thought about this just yesterday. Let's say I won $20 million in the lottery. I would pay off all debts, take care of my family's debts, buy myself a nice place here in NYC, travel for a couple years, settle down with a wife and kids, and then - this is the hard part - what would I do? What reason would I have for waking up every day? That's the tough question.

I feel that only some kind of career can give me the motivation to keep going in life. Getting up so I can work on a hobby and just pass time leisurely is basically what I have now, and it's hell. Perhaps you are right that I need to build a more interesting life, but I just don't see hobbies or traveling or hanging out as a meaningful way to spend my latter years. There has to be something greater.
I am in a very similar situation and relate to almost everything you said. I am employed full time and paid very well, but at this point in my career in the tech world I am in a higher level role where I don't really do much of what I consider work. I find myself struggling to feel like I've got any value out of that time to the point I don't go to sleep at night because I don't feel I have done anything to make myself better than the day before.

I have a good amount of money to the point I don't look or think much about the actual numbers but look more at trend lines. I have nice things and have wasted plenty of money, but I don't really understand people that just buy more and more stuff. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone else but I feel like everything I buy/own adds some degree and form of weight to my life that I carry. At least to me I don't think there is any such thing as too much money because I place more value on the feeling of accomplishment for what I have done to earn that money than what that money can be used to acquire.

To conclude my likely, barely coherent rambling I feel very much the same as you really wanting more the opposite of retirement as I have plenty of time and money currently and can't imagine doing less. Instead wanting more responsibility and things to do to feel more sense of purpose in my life which for me I think is finding ways to continue challenging myself mentally in a way that gives me the sense that I have done something I consider made me slightly better than I was the day before.

No idea. People want to waste their youth not doing anything exciting/fun to save everything for retirement when they'll be too old/lazy to do anything they had planned LMFAO.

Retirement is also tough for a lot of men. They want to be seen as productive and looked up to by other men. I've seen many fall into depression and then memory starts to fade and dementia sets in earlier.

Others who do puzzles and keep their brain active still miss being looked up to, so they return to work after a couple of years.

illegal immigrants dont work anymore. 20 years ago sure. these days, with automation there is no where near enough jobs for them all, they now get free everything at liberal cities. An entire football stadium of illegals comes in the country every 2-4 days. How many janitors and dishwashers do you think the US needs? most places already have a floor guy. Farms barely employ anyone these days they all use machines.
