Some older buildings in cities don’t have the plumbing set up for washer and dryer.
I lived in an apartment in Brooklyn for two years with no dish washer or laundry when I was poor student.
Have all the three now and would never willingly go back to that shiet.

Also they still seem to exist in areas without too many apartments, it's weird.

But yes when I was living in Brooklyn NY it was pretty common to have apartments that didn’t have internal laundry facilities so people just took their chit to the coin op laundromats
Some of the older apartments in DC had this setup too

Laubdry sucsk.
Thats why i have one of those little portable washing machines yo can put in the shower. Works great and I just do a few things at a time when I want to.
The secret to laundry is to wear house clothes. You can basically wear the same sweats and such around your house all the time thus lessening the amount of laundry you need to do. When you go out, put on regular clothes and change back when you get home.

Some place where you rent may not include machines, perhaps the studio is so small it doesn't have room. Maybe someone's machine broke and while waiting for a replacement went to a laundromat.
So yeah in essence, basically brokies. and students.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

For people who live in apartments / dwellings who don't have laundry machines.
My first apartment I rented didn't have one, but I was lucky enough to bring laundry to parents house
Then again , the building had coin operated laundry machines never used them once though .

I drop my work clothes off once a week and pick them up the next day. Washed, dried and folded. Even gets most of the tradie stains out. For $7 you can’t beat that.

We've used them while on vacation and while our machine was broken and I was fixing it. I used them extensively while I was living in the dorm in college. The university had machines, but they were constantly broken or in use.

most people that rent small homes dont purchase a washer/dryer because of the cost and they need to move at some point. so they stack up laundry in their closet for weeks and then wash essentials at the mat every 1-2 weeks
