Misc fathers do you think you could be happy being one and done with only child?

Debating with wife on another kid, I kind of want one. Right now we are financially stable able to vacation every 3-4 months or so even without her working. My kid is 3.5 and potty trained . I just always envisioned 2 kids. Current household income is like 400k but if she returned to work we could bump it to 500-550. Money doesn’t mean much after a certain point though. All I really want is more land and time to play poker tournaments

Just from my life observations, if you have a son, life will be worse for him if he's an only child. Like I said, just anecdotal but worth considering. Also the second isn't as hard as you think.

Was considering a 2nd when I was with my only child's mother but now no way I would have another. My son is all I need and allows me to focus all attention and money to him.

Not to.mention my age playing a factor.

I’m 40 and have an amazing daughter I just always pictured 2 kids I don’t care if it’s another girl or a boy but infant period was very rough

I have an only child and don't regret it at all. When he was young we were in play groups and he has a bunch of cousins that he was close with, so he had tons of socialization with other kids before school started. He's also not a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around him. It's all in the way you raise them.

Don't feel bad bro I always pictured two too. Actually 3. Two boys and a girl but time catches up to us all and better to have none than to have them with the wrong woman.

We had one at 46 and, realistically, now that we are 48, we won't have another biological one. We are debating adopting another 1 or 2.

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

Every one of my close buds from college is one and done, its weird. Only children were so rare when I was a kid. I want one and I also don't want one.

Not sure what the issue is, why wouldn't you go for another one if you're able to pull 400k a year solo?
Your wife can stay home for a couple of years. Honestly, the kid just need their mom during that time. You're just the protector during that time and you're already doing it.

I'm going for number 2, the struggle is finding the time when the little man goes to sleep so I can sleep with the mom..yknow what i'm saying?

I believe 2-3 kids is the best but I like bigger families. Do it before there is anymore age difference between them. I think ideally have one right after another if you can handle the stress...get it over with so you can get them raised to adults and on with your life before you're too old to enjoy it.

400k is enough for her to stay home permanently and you can still vacation, private school and college. This is unless you have major student loans and a high mortgage.

only children are outcastes and universally considered weird.
