TG2 did so well there was no way they didn't make a 3rd.

But what will be the story this time?

Having the cocky, skilled rookie come up to the big ranks was legit.

Then having the legend return when he's old to show he's still got it is still legit.

Both scenarios work well but what's the play now?

Top Gun 2 was successful because there literally was nothing else to watch because of the pandemic. But it was a good movie, just that it wouldn't have did as well if it came out now.
