I used to have this optimistic blissful feeling 5 years ago that I only heard described by a former IRA soldier who came to America after the IRA wars and said he felt it and could hardly describe it it felt so good all natural no drugs I used to have it too but I haven't felt it in 5 years idk where it went

That's called getting older, and in turn, more bitter and jaded. It's pretty common.

Yea that's your youth fading away. And once its gone you never get it back. Literally everyone experiences it to an extent. Used to walk around high as fukk off life, but then reality hits you when you get older.
That's why drugs are so popular here. But fukk that, life wasnt meant to be a picnic anyway. Being sober is ultimately the best move. And getting old is better than the alternative...

There's ways to break through this and get back there, this feeling comes and goes throughout life in my experience
Things that can make it come back:
- Overcoming trauma
- Something new you start or comes along that brings you joy
- Hard mental exercises with a disciplined routine
- Taking self care to the next level and doing everything in your power to heal yourself
- After you take care of yourself then comes finding a new intimate partner
- Psychedelics AKA entheogens (not for everyone but they can work miracles nothing else could accomplish)
- Stop all meds/drugs/alcohol
- Have a positive social circle / support system
- Cleanse/fast/detox/exercise

I don't know the details and of course its all circumstantial, but my point was relationships don't generally work if both people aren't healthy mentally/physically
You can make connections even stronger by going through tough times with someone, that's kind of the point of this anyways

Yeah all the times I have been truly happy in life is when I had major life goals I wanted to achieve and was working toward. When chit gets stale and repetitive that is when your soul gets crushed. Definitely consider ending that unfulfilling relationship and maybe a new career or start a business.

Pessimism is key to approaching later stages in life and go gently into the night.
