Do you support cell phone recording at concerts?
I am guilty of recording short clips here and there, but largely I’ve noticed most youth and even older folk are more keen to record nearly a whole concert on their phone rather than be present and in the moment. At the same time they paid price of admission and as long as the venue doesn’t expressly forbid recording people I guess are allowed to do it
Thoughts?

I've seen a few videos on youtube of bands in-concert, with phone videos. The quality is kind of **** but it's cool once in awhile like when the band plays something they don't normally play.
But if I'm at a concert and some asswipe gets all pissy because I'm blocking his shot then he can fuk himself. I went to a concert once where some fat neckbeard kept taking photos and he kept the flash turned on. I was shocked they didn't throw his fat ass out.

I think it's ok for short clips or maybe for a favorite song. But so many people try to film most of the concert and that's obnoxious. I'd much rather enjoy the actual concert than try to film it.

It’s like watching a fight go down, it’s not hard to film it and enjoy it at the same time

I don't go to concerts so I don't care one way or the other. But can't help but laugh. 99% of people only want to post pictures on their snap/FB/IG reel so they can show people they were 'there'.

We’re talking about a pocket size device with a huge fukin screen. It’s not fukin hard to film and watch an event go down simultaneously

It's annoying everywhere not just concerts. People can't just enjoy things in the moment without taking a bunch of chitty clips and pictures they'll never look at.

I've been to some cool live events when I was younger. But I wouldn't even bother looking back at videos of them if I'd have filmed them.
I have a ton of old photos/home videos of myself and friends/family from when I was growing up. My girlfriend has the same. Sometimes its cool to reminisce and look back at them. Neither of us have stored videos/pictures of concerts/random people that we look back at.

I’ve kinda stopped taking video cause I never watch even quick clips back. I’d rather just enjoy the moment.
As an artist looking at cell phones in the air the whole time must be lame. It’s different if using the flashlight as a lighter during a ballad, but I’m sure it sorta lessens the experience for the performer as well
Definitely glad others upload to YouTube though.

It’s drake
It would be like showing an early Michael Jackson concert to your parents, any boomer would love to see video evidence of that

****ing Zoomers can't even put away their phones for an hr or two to watch a show.....
That's why I love Tool's policy of no phones, ushers will tell you once and then you're out of there.

There were a handful of officials before the show addressing us before letting us in, explaining the no photo policy.

I don’t give a fuk what other people do.
But if you are filming a whole concert I’ll either assume you don’t actually care about the music. Or if it’s one of your favorite band I would think very poorly of you.
People can whine they can multi task blah blah blah.
Sorry no you can’t, every study has shown taking photos reduces quality of memory of moments. Let alone getting the whole concert on video lmao. Like I’ll just look at you and assume you’re a spastic blue light addict that can’t do anything without their pocket screen. Absolutely disgusts me at the state of humanity.
But it’s just silent judging, keep being little fgts.

I don't record every song, and the ones I do I typically only record a verse/chorus.
I also just hold my phone there whilst I continue watching in person, and don't care if I get the singer in the shot or not, the purpose is so I can go back and watch them all again and reminisce on a good time.
Don't record them to blast all over social media, they're for my continued enjoyment years down the track.

I'm the same. I had gotten my son tix to a couple concerts for Christmas or his bday that he ended up not being able to go to so I did video a little more than I normally would to send him the vids.

I was rapping, jumping around and chit. The video is not supposed to be perfectly recorded, but it’s good enough that you capture the main moments and can watch it back in future.
