Had the worst day ever

I was driving home on the highway today when I thought I saw a chunk of black snow on the road. Didn’t wanna hit it but I was on my phone and ended up hitting it anyways. Turns out it was a chunk of broken road. As soon as I hit it I knew my wheel was fuked.

I had to spend $300 on a tire immediately after. There was a discount tire near the exit and they said over a dozen people had hit the same thing. Apparently it was on the news the night prior.

So fuking fix it!!!!!

(The road crew not the discount tire workers lol)

Worst days ever are relative. On Thursday, an angiogram will tell me if the ischemia in my dad’s heart is caused by a blocked vessel or two (leading to an immediate angioplasty) or something bigger (leading to a bypass).

I took a “I don’t give a fuk what you have to say about it” week off from my job so he doesn’t have to work before he finds out this Thursday. Pushing 80, it looks bad.

I’m running his business in the meantime, so he uses his time with family. I’ve told people he’s on vacation, but yeah, he is not. There’s a whole bad week right there.

All this stuff is relative.

It sucks when stuff happens to our cars unexpectedly. Are you able to claim any of this with your insurance? I was driving home on the highway a few winters ago and a semi on the other side of the rural 2 lane highway sent a large rock flying in my direction that shattered my windshield. It was definitely fuking schitty. I had to pay a pretty hefty deductible but my insurance covered it in the end.

Still a massive hassle, though. Sorry you had to go through that.

My insurance is insanely high so I’m not gonna try that. More claims would be the death of me lol.

If that's your worst day ever you need a reality check.

IIRC California had to pay out, or some city, to drivers for damages to their vehicles since the road was so sht.

so while you were changing your tire or waiting for a tow, did you happen to move the chunk of asphalt out of the road so this wouldn't happen to the next guy?

That's what you get for being inattentive while driving. It sucks OP, but rather than complain, ask yourself whatyoucan do to change things. In this case, pay more attention while driving.

This. That's a crappy thing that happened for OP, but that wouldn't even be a blip on my radar for what constitutes a truly bad day.

It’s a run flat I didn’t have any of that happen.

Btw you guys are only thinking about the tire “oh op is so dramatic”. That’s a BMW rim that is completely fuked (the lip is bent). On a car that’s less than. 3 months old.

Best case scenario is I can get it fixed and have it look mildly deformed. Or worst case I have to drop a grand on a new rim.

Sorry to hear man but get TF off your phone.

Also, you can probably force the state to reimburse you for the damage srs. Just don’t tell them you were distracted. The government is responsible for maintenance of roads.

I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a flex? I can’t get an OEM wheel for my car on there. Why would I do that.

If it was on the news, chances are that it was reported to the city. If it was reported to the city, you can get reimbursed for the damages by the city.
