Anyone else pretty much done with flying?

With all the recent incidents happening..

Door blows off midflight
Wing doesn't have all the bolts screwed in
Nose wheel comes off right before takeoff
Pilots having heart attacks due to being vaccinated
Diversity hires (women, blacks, lgbtq)
Too many poor people being able to afford flying
Frequent delays, rising prices

Seems like renting a nice car and driving at your own pace is the way to go??

I'm extremely grateful when planes land safe, it's a ridiculous amount of trust to put into stuff (flying) that's out of your control + 35,000ft in the air

crazy to think about

The roads are getting more dangerous too. People have completely lost their minds, driving post covid is far more dangerous.

No good answer.

If the drive is more than 12 hours each way, I’m still flying.

I've been on something like 12 flights in the past 60 days. Still love every moment of the entire experience.

If there are still airlines that don't practice DEI hiring then I would fly. The challenge is figuring out which airlines those are..

I vowed I would never fly again a couple years ago after a flight with bad turbulence. Every time I tell someone that they look at me like I’m a pussy but I don’t give a single fuk.

I’d be Amtrak crew if it were possible to ride it anywhere except the Northeast. If Biden was going to do anything good I thought passenger rail would be it, yet he’s failed on that too. Sad!

I’d rather drive srs. No smelly fat people sitting next to you. No TSA. No waiting around idle for takeoff. You have full control in the car. I like to listen to my music on full blast and just cruise. Plus 8 hours isn’t so bad if you take a few breaks in between. Maybe stop at a cool restaurant in a city between your destinations.

Multi-day drives are fkin terrible though. My body is always sore after despite doing nothing lol.

But train travel is the absolute GOAT. It’s all the convenience of flying with none of the bullchit. You just hop on, sit down wherever you want or walk around the dining cars and you’re on your way. It’s criminal that we don’t have high speed rail in the U.S.

I'm flying next month. I actually prefer flying right after all this dangerous shiet gets reported in the news, because the chances of it happening again in a short time after must be lower... right? Lol at least that's how I cope with it

No, if all these issues are happening now, it means there are likely tons of undiscovered accidents just waiting to happen. The damage has been done. I heard that a lot of the people doing maintenance are just chitty people that come to work hungover or high or some shiet.

More people will have been put off by needing the jab during covid, than the recent accidents.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

All of my domestic travel has been via roadtrip for the last few years.

Much rather be in charge of my own trip, and then have my vehicle available at my destination. Too many losers can afford to fly these days unfortunately.

No, I have to fly it comes with my job. I also love to fly. If there was a fatal crash I might feel differently but these incidents prove that even if something goes wrong your chances are surviving it are incredibly good.

Also compared to driving it's safer. On the road any idiot could ram into you going 80 mph and end your life.

it's only a matter of time, as number of incidents goes up, eventually something will go wrong

Alot of big city airports are located in undesirable areas where poor people live. The airport hires those same people to do all the work.
