Also IMO if someone stayed married to their first wife that's a strong indicator of their personal ethics.

There are exceptions like Bernie Madoff but most of the corporate sociopaths I've seen are either single or divorced.

The best boss I've ever had was a divorced dad of 4. He was basically an IRL miscer... looked like a 6'3" gigachad but was actually a total autist with terrible self esteem.

One way that manifested was that he really, really wanted his work team to like him. The other was that he was a total poonhound... talking about Pajeetas' azzes at work and chit like that. I never found out what blew up his marriage, but I'll bet a $20 he literally fukked around and found out.

Dude genuinely meant well though, and he went out of his way for me. Wood work for again/10.

This means that, sadly, unmarried men encounter a glass ceiling in their earning potential in the corporate world. It's not the same issue with women as I've known many unmarried women who held VP roles.


The reason why companies prefer married men with children is because they have something that they're scared to lose if they f/ck up in their job.


Sorry boyos, if you're unmarried with no children, you ain't getting a cushy VP or President job.

Company I used to work for had kind of the same thinking.....I was told "when you're ready and more settled, we will consider you for our Director level positions"

I was 33, unmarried (but was in a long term relationship with the gal I ended up marrying), no kids, moving around, living in an apartment etc......I ended up leaving that company in 2018 but have stayed in contact with a few of the higher ups and in the last 2 years, they've called me several times asking if I would be interested in interviewing for their open director and senior PM Positions.....now that I'm 38, married with a kid and own a house.

Makes sense. Having kids is one of the greatest joys you can experience in life. It also shifts your mindset when it comes to your legacy. You are no longer only concerned with only yourself. A married man with kids is likely to have a much stronger interest in the success of the company as he has women and children (who he loves more than anything) who depends on his success. And his success is directly tied to the company's success. Companies seem to realize this and make decisions accordingly. Mirin.

I always thought this was a hilarious reason to discriminate against people.

I recently saw one of my old bosses who I worked for back in 2016, and one of the first things he asked me was whether I was married. I imagine he was probably interested in trying to hire me again, and so one of the questions he asked was whether I was married nowadays. After telling him no and that I've spent time in 4 different Continents over the past 12 months, he seemed to lose some interest in talking to me.

Considering that I probably earn more than him in the same line of work, I found it pretty hilarious.

Basically, wondering if you're married is basically a way to determine if you're desperate and can be cucked by an employer. It's a weeder question to figure out if you're an alpha or a beta. They only want to hire betas.

That would be even more severe for women then, as no company wants a single women in their 30s representing their company or something who is volatile

The more senior you are, the more your personal external relationships affect the company. Partners, clients, suppliers etc form a relationship withyou, just as much, if not more, than they do with the company.

If you leave, the loss of those personal relationships have a negative impact on the company, either due to a lag whilst your replacement builds up those relationships, or a loss due to you taking that relationship somewhere else.

They are simply trying to filter people to those more likely to stay with the company for a longer period of time. But, as a I said earlier, this isn't holding true as much as it used to, so less companies are factoring marriage in to hiring decisions.

It's been like this for many years in many different organizations... companies want a family man image with their president and ceo. They also like hiring family men because they know that most need the job to pay their expensive mortgage, cars, lifestyle, kids college, etc. Being married also GENERALLY proves that you aren't socially retarded. Imagine a miscer walking into your office wearing a tight little suit, a fake rolex, and trying to get a job versus an average 40 something sub division dweller with a $400,000 mortgage, wife, and kids that he needs to support...who do you think is going to be the more reliable/thankful worker when you give them a 3.5% COLA raise every year... the miscer will job hop constantly while the family man seeks security, and will work very hard for it, possibly for less money. Family men typically take less risk, and are more loyal.

The bold is the exact situation I ran into.....(going back to my post where I mentioned the company I used to work for has reached out to me to interview for some SR PM Positions since I've "settle down")......I entertained the idea, met with one of the Directors for lunch in late 2022 to just talk about some possibilities and after 45 minutes of talking he says "what range of salary would you be looking for?"....

Now for reference, when I left I was making about $60k (which was a chit ton for the little town I lived in, managing a Public Works project for them)....but that was in 2018 and since then I had blossomed at another company.....so I told him what I was making working from home ($110k base, $200/month for phone & internet and a yearly bonus of 15%-18%, so about $130k) and what I would need to be comfortable giving that up to come back to work for them knowing they don't do Bonuses of any kind, driving to the project every day, increased travel, etc...which was $150k & Either a company truck or a vehicle allowance of $1000/month......and he basically said bsmit10, we can do the truck but there's no way in hell we could pay you that much.

Jokes on him.....I knew that going into the conversation, I just wanted him to know. As we were leaving he "jokingly" asked.....is your company hiring?

For even more reference, they pay their senior level PM's 85-100k and give them a company truck and a credit card for gas.....which is great for this part of the country. Average household income in the areas that they operate range from like 30-45k

Idk if this is a troll thread but this kind of discrimination absolutely happens in some companies

In one company I worked for, the management was very “cliquey”, almost like the mean girls group from the movie. They would have personal dinner events after work where all the families got together etc. if you didn’t have a family you weren’t invited. Not being in this clique meant you would never get very high up
