What do you guys think about doing Airbnb?
I’m talking about the arbitrage business model. So leasing a place for 12-18 months and listing it for Airbnb. Granted you’d have to provide it some sort of furnishings. I guess it’s a popular thing people on Zillow get messages about.
My thoughts are let’s say the rent is $2000 a month.
The average Airbnb price seems to be around $90 a day.. even with 100% occupancy which is totally unrealistic you’re only grossing $2700 before any furniture payments.
So $700 on a perfect month (which I’m sure the site takes a cut of) before any expenses related to potential damage.
I don’t get how it would be worth it.
Am I missing something?

Some girl I went to high school with does it and hasn’t worked a real job a day in her life. Her dad peddles courses teaching people how to get rich off Airbnb and she runs his properties. The girl takes vacations every month and flaunts a rich lifestyle on social media so it seems legit, but maybe her pops is just scamming wagies.

I have a cabin right by a popular ski mtn and vacation lake was going to turn it into an airbnb but I've spoken to some friends that own them it is more hassle than it's worth for me. I can rent it out for a holiday weekend and make as easy $5k..I might do that in the future
