To your list I'd add antibiotics. Whenever I'm prescribed any that I don't really need, I save them up. You often don't have to do a full course for a mild uti, for example. Wisdom teeth pulled recently and they were over prescribed. I kept the extras for my stash. I do the same with painkillers.

I thought the urine bags were kinda cool. Maybe you get stuck in traffic and need to pee. It solidifies in the bag too. Take up little space and light, But definitely not necessary.

I have multiple lighter sources, and the multitool was first on my list.

Those torch lighters I linked are good for extreme winds, but you would probably wanna carry extra fluid for them too.

A natural disaster where your power goes out for 3 days is something more likely to happen and prepare for. In Texas we had the freeze that our infrastructure wasn’t ready for that took out our power for a week. Back in 2021 I was not prepared for it. They are pretty good AF especially considering a 25 year shelf life.

I did a lot of research and got a backpack to fill with stuff. Never know when a major emergency can happen. Still a work in progress. The backpack is still light and can swap/add some items. What am i missing?

Get rid of the life straw. They are stupid and pointless unless you plan on drinking out of ponds and puddles. You want to be able to quickly fill a container and get away from the water to filter later. Switch It for a sawyer squeeze

Too many light sources. One of each is fine. Look for a headlamp with red light like the H25RL.

You have no tinder source. A marine trick is cotton balls soaked in Vaseline, they burn for several minutes and take a spark when pulled apart

You don't have any trauma items, TQ, packing gauze, wrap etc. This is separate from a boo boo kit. Take a stop the bleed course to learn how to use them properly AND DO NOT USE KNOCKOFF TQs, NAR or bust.

You don't have a container to cook in or boil water. I use a Toaks cup that nests with my uninsulated stainless water bottle.

You have no water storage. I typically have not only my 32oz bottle but also a 5 liter Camelback Mil that fits into my bag nicely. Without water you die so you overlooked the most important aspect of your survival by alot. You can go 7-14 days without food, 2 days without water and be barely functional, less if it's hot out.

Where is your cordage? That's one of the 7 c's of survival. I use paracord that I stripped the inner cords out and daisychain them

Cotton bandana or shemaugh. Multiple uses, from a sling to pre filtering dirty water

Underclothes- merino wool or USMC Frog. Extra socks (merino) extra change of underwear

Compass? Get a good one and practice using it. GPS can and will fail. Find a local land navigation course.

No Knife? Fixed blade, gerber strongarm is my favorite.

Poncho? It's probably the most versatile item for survival, can protect from weather, can be part of a sleep system, can be turned into a shelter and can float gear over water. And I mean a good one like Helikon Tex or Mil Tec not some plastic bag of one.

Saw?
Gun?

I don't know what bag you are running but get a legit good bag from Gregory, Crossfire, Mystery Ranch etc.

Also don't waste your time watching Canadian Prepper, he's a ****ing clown with a 65 lb bag full of hype beast gear and clickbait titles. Legitimately cannot stand him since I can tell he rarely actually gets out there.

Half life refers to how long they are in your system. They will have expiration dates but they will usually be useful well past those they just lose a bit of effectiveness.

knowing my luck, I'd have the most decked out shelter and tactical bug out bag in all of history but I would get shot in the leg by grandpa laying in the bushes with a lever action .22 and bleed out because it nicked an artery so I just accept that if the society breaks down I will die

I think they get weaker but not sure if they lose all potency. I'd take the chance over not having any at all. Saving pills ofc, not liquid antibiotics.

regardless of the expiration date, when a drug (pills/capsules/gel cap) are repackaged from their original bottle we give them a 1 year expiration date. However the drug may have as long as a 2-3 year "manufactured" shelf life (if stored in a cool dry place).
