Trust the Science: EXPERTS in the AAP, "Give kids Ozempic!"

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...-risks/674204/
Part of the interest stems from Ozempic’s potential in teens: In December, the FDA approved Wegovy as a treatment for teenagers with obesity, which affects 22 percent of 12-to-19-year-olds in the United States. The drug’s ability to spur weight loss in adolescents has been described as “mind-blowing.” In January, in its new childhood-obesity-treatment guidelines, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that doctors consider adding weight-loss drugs such as semaglutide as a treatment for some patients.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Wegovy, Ozempic, and Rybelsus. AAP = American Academy of Pediatrics i.e. Experts and infallible, can not be wrong and you can not question them.

DO NOT BE ALARMED

The FDA has *Approved* Ozempic for both Adults and Teens!!! IT'S SAFE!

FDA approves high-dose semaglutide for adolescents with obesity
https://diabetes.medicinematters.com...esity/23902216

Please, give your developing children Ozempic. Take it yourself. Everyone must take Ozempic. Consume. It's FDA approved, that means: We know it is safe! Just cherish we live in the United States of America, one of the few countries that allow it.

Ignore anti-science CTards who talk about it fuking up people's guts or doing permanent damage and that people regain weight when they're off. The FDA has spoken: It's safe and CTards should be in prison for spreading misinformation. It should not be legal to question the FDA, AAP or The Science.

Cot damn….imagine telling your teenager to inject a drug instead of teaching them to eat healthy and be active.

Then again, look at the number of teens on anti-anxiety medications and antidepressants. Sometimes I feel like the PIC has caused more damage in America than the MIC. In a lot of ways, these are truly sad times we live in.

More than that, and I'm not shy about ****ting on either of them - but the way we subsidize garbage and poison is a problem. HFCS is vile poison and it's in almost everything a normal American consumes. Chemicals are in everything. We've bled the soil dry of important minerals like magnesium. Virtually everyone is deficient in vitamin D or K.

Even if you try to eat smart, they sneak it in when they can.

As to this thread, we'll see where it goes. I don't normally bookmark threads to play Gotcha later, but there is no doubt in my mind Ozempic will be exposed in less than three years, if not even sooner. I want to see someone come here and defend it.

I was reading an interesting possible natural way to lose weight last night. It had to do with sunlight and how it increases hormone levels associated with weight loss, such as thyroid hormones.

I guess though only animal studies have been done on this idea. Two groups of lab rats were given the same diet. One group lived indoors all the time, under artificial lights. The other group of lab rats were outdoors. The result, the indoor rats became obese. The outdoor lab rats were skinny.

I guess have kids play outdoors more often and not wear sunglasses. It is the sunlight through the eyes that signals to the brains to make the hormones. Outdoor playing might be as effective as the new weight loss drugs.

8 Cold Weather Tips for Thyroid Patients

....Soak Up Some Sun
There's evidence that exposure to sunlight affects hormones that have an impact on both brain chemistry and the endocrine system. Even 20 to 30 minutes of outdoor light exposure a day can help ward off fatigue and depression. Another important reason to seek out the sun is for vitamin D, which is critical to thyroid function.3

If you're prone to seasonal affective disorder and find yourself gaining weight and feeling significantly depressed during the colder months, consider light therapy as an adjunct to sunshine. You can get an inexpensive light therapy box or desk lamp to help deal with the shorter, colder days.

These lamps don't provide vitamin D, however, so if you're not getting outside regularly, get your Vitamin D levels checked; your healthcare provider may recommend a supplement.

Often, people without thyroid problems are misdiagnosed as hypothyroid during the winter months due to the normal seasonal change in hormone levels.....

I'm sure J.L.C. and/or Nutsy54 can produce cites for why pharmas acid reflux drugs are safe, and the go-to remedy for acid reflux, and that anyone who disagrees and instead advocates apple cider vinegar is a "conspiracy theorist whackjob", "pushing a narrative."

They want teens to chemically castrate themselves, if not ALSO physically castrating themselves at the same time....

Well, yes. Everything is composed of chemicals. Magnesium is a chemical element. Why do you think it's on the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, son?

Hey man this thread is about Ozempic and that we shouldn't be giving it to teens, there's much better ways. It isn't about you or getting some technical "gotcha" moments.
We're just trying to get to the truth and I appreciated the Vitamin D post up there ^

Good for you if you eat healthy though.

Piss off you rude prick, nobody cares. I can not imagine being such a gruffy unhappy pile of **** as you purport yourself in these forums, nitpicking over minor details and you're almost as bad as bodhy when it comes to desperate self-promotion.

Your entire act screams someone who is miserable, you should grow up - you're in your 50s for fuks sake.

I'm not here to piss on people's shoes like you seem to be, so kindly fuk off and just leave me out of your nonsense. I'd rather spend my time here talking with normal people who are not unhappy miserable old cretins, thank you. If someone wants to tear apart some post/thread I make, more power to them, it's not like I am infallible or do not sometimes have bad takes -- but you are only concerned with constantly, rudely and for no reason being "the guy" who always takes exception to anything and everything. I am not interested in playing your game, I'm not unhappy, miserable or have the need to bicker for no reason online like you.

Was just reading the wiki for Semaglutide (Ozempic is brand name), it says it's generally used as an adjunct to diet and exercise. The pill, Rybelses is a front line type 2 pill, and Wegovy is the one for weight loss.

I think if you're disabled, or depressed or have something going on a good doctor in the right situation can use this as a tool in your treatment, not so much a magic bullet.

There are a ton of side-effects though, no doubt.

This is the clinical trial
https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04102189

A paper from that trial:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2208601

The FDA approval:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugs...ig1s005ltr.pdf

"REQUIRED PEDIATRIC ASSESSMENTS

Under the Pediatric Research Equity Act (PREA) (21 U.S.C. 355c), all applications for new active ingredients (which includes new salts and new fixed combinations), new indications, new dosage forms, new dosing regimens, or new routes of administration are required to contain an assessment of the safety and effectiveness of the product for the claimed indication in pediatric patients unless this requirement is waived, deferred,or inapplicable.

We note that you have fulfilled the pediatric study requirement for ages 12 to less than 18 years for this application. We remind you that there is a PREA postmarketing requirement listed in the June 4, 2021, approval letter that is still open. "

"FULFILLMENT OF POSTMARKETING REQUIREMENT

This sNDA contained the final report for the following postmarketing requirement listed in the June 4, 2021, approval letter:

4081-1 Complete the ongoing 68-week randomized, double-blind, placebocontrolled study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of semaglutide for the treatment of obesity in pediatric patients ages 12 to less than 18.

We have reviewed your submission and conclude that the above requirement was fulfilled.

We remind you that there are postmarketing requirements listed in the June 4, 2021, approval letter that are still open. "

It doesn't look like anyone is suggesting to "give kids ozempic".

68 week trial for a drug that must be used for life.

Also, hmm. Trial didn't seem to grab how 30% of people who start end up quitting within the first month due to horrible side-effects. Speaking of those horrible side-effects, I don't see the conclusions to this extensive 68-week study, do they mention how it basically shuts off your stomach? Wonder why people on it have almost no serotonin? Surely that won't cause depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts or other disastrous side-effects. Did the study happen to mention any of that?

Also, wait a moment -- why is it that these studies got the green light in America but not Europe (outside specific treatment only for t2 diabetes)? Not even in Novo Nordisk's own country. Almost like they know the FDA is a basically worthless organization willing to green light almost anything and peddle it to poor Americans but that Europe has actually some standards when it comes to these things.

To your wondering if/when this will be OTC, I doubt it. I suspect in 5 years we'll be talking about the 'new' wonder drug and Ozempic will be in the corner alone with Orilstat or that other fat loss miracle drug that gave people heart attacks.

Are you asking why people do medical research?

Regardless, OP said these trials are banned in Europe. That appears to be false.

Oh well, fuk it. Don't believe your lying eyes, we've got a Study and the FDA telling us otherwise, guess all those liars who quit before 30 days (1 out of 3) are just Anti-Science CTard misinformation bad boys and girls.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but let me explain:

Yes, looks like they did conduct the study in many areas, Europe included. However, nobody but the USA is approving this for fat loss, in Europe, the only places that have approved it - it's specifically for type 2 diabetes only.

Which, that's actually worse and proves my point more -- my point which was clearly stated: That the USA and FDA approve garbage way too easily and Europe has higher standards. Thank you for making my point all the more robust, I appreciate it. Even when they conducted the studies in Europe, those nations at least had enough sense to say, "Nope".

Interestingly, the 6.8% that in this study had psychiatric disorders, that does not line up at all with what we know now post-study -- it's way higher. OOPS!! What could have possibly happened here?! How?! HOW?! This study, and it looks so proper and well-done and who am I (not a scientist) to refute a word of it -- yet, Time has not been particularly kind to it, it seems.

Plus, the pharma company is European

That's why I love when people go, "But the all knowing FDA aprroved it....."

They never approved things in the past that turned out to be deadly.....

The trials, protocols, and results are all there for review.

If you disagree with decision, why?

How many times has something that has been approved by the FDA, later been pulled from the shelves and discontinued?

And are you lacking in common sense to not know why teens shouldn't be taking Ozempic???

It shuts down the stomach, causes massive gastrointestinal damage (which does not end when they get off the drug), in order to be effective the drug must be taken life-long and 30% of users elect to quit within the first month, serotonin (much of which: made in your stomach) levels drop and users often experience horrific mental side-effects. I also disagree with this study in that - we know they understated much (really, all) the side effects - we know this because the study was years back, it got rolled out and with our own eyes we now see otherwise.

So, reality itself kind of disputes this study, and when it comes to the FDA and a big Pharm study Vs Reality, I myself side with reality.

And, honestly, thank you for being the gift that keeps giving. You've propped up this study, how proper and good it is, how it's showing how safe this product is -- that just shows how manipulative these studies can be, doesn't it? We know this study understated so many things, what's the deal? Was it just not large enough of a study? No, you already showed how big and how long it was (a phrase never spoken in Bodhy's presence) -- so that could not be the case. So, it's something else. Some other reason why this study misrepresented things and with it being so proper, Boy - that makes a guy think, huh?
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

The data don't really support your statements.

Reality "disputes" the entire STEP trial?

I disagree that sharing source material is equivalent to "propping up".

The trials are registered, protocols and analysis plans are reviewable. With what do you take issue?

Almost half the obese kids were no longer obese after a year and a half.

If you have an obese kid and your doctor prescribes ozempic, nobody is going to stop you from seeking a second opinion nor will anyone force you to fill a prescription

So you support giving a drug that reduces muscle mass, and bone density to teenagers?
