Reminder social media is not real life...

it doesn't represent society or the average person, so for you to make judgements based on what you see on social media is idiotic
go outside for once and you'll see... not every girl is a total sloot, not every jogger is a criminal, not every cop is a killer...

Social media is real life. Most people spend more time on social media than with actual people.

People are more vocal on social media, but hilariously autistic irl.

social media is about as real as forums where everybody is 10k/day ceo. basically humans are going to side with projecting their life to be better than it really is...to keep up with others doing the same and to create envy. the vast majority of people want to feel special

internet addiction will be the big thing to treat over the next decades. it will also be shown to be harmful to children. already seeing adhd being diagnosed much more in adults and children. people will say stuff like "back in my day we stayed on the internet 10 hours a day and turned out fine"

i don't think it gets pushed by the media as a problem though because too many people benefit financially from the addiction...including those that bring us news.

I think walmart should be the litmus test for society.

No matter what you see on social media or tv or whatever, just go to walmart to see how an actual diverse cross section of reality is getting along.

The difference is night and day. Everyone will just be doing their thing not caring about all that programming.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Truth. That’s why I deactivated mine. I miss out on hockey and music news a tad cause of it. But my life is so much better. I’m 34 though so I wasn’t raised a slave to it.

It's not even just 10 hours per day. It's all day now.

Attention spans went from normal to like 7 seconds because of social media. We are screwed.

just because people spend most of their free time on their phones/social media, doesn't mean its real life...
before social media and phones people would spend their free time watch tv/movies and reading fiction, doesn't mean any of it was real or worth getting angry about

yeah it's pretty sad. and the big companies have researched/spent enough money to get capturing people's attention down to a science. take a person that's never had a smart phone and within months they will be addicts. we are basically wasting our lives away and don't even realize it. i'd tell anyone open minded enough that kids shouldn't have smart phones until 18+ when their brains are more developed. most people are essentially giving their kids crack from the age of 3-4. the gullible one's even think it makes their kids smarter so they want them plugged into the matrix as soon as possible.

It's not the same man. Reality is now hyperreal because of how integrated social media is with physical reality. Take bodybuilding for example, you used to just go to the gym and 99% of what you saw was guys with a little muscle and like 12-18% bf.....now most of what you see is 8% shredded dudes online like Kinobody.

Yeah exactly, social media is like crack. You can't get people away from it either, they go into withdrawals in a matter of a few minutes or maybe an hour max now.

I'd say people are autistic as fuk on social media, too. I've only been on X/Twitter for a couple months and the comments are mindblowing. I mean people jump through the most retarded series of hoops to continue arguing on the internet and "be right" like it's so damn important to them to show up some faceless guy on Twitter.

Same goes for Youtube comments sections. You could post something sensible and some asshat will find a way to argue against it.

sad how the misc is, relatively speaking, my safe space.

Thanks
I needed to be reminded of this after making some new fitness account and only amassing a grand total of 5 followers and letting it get to my self worth!
I forgot that i'm simply just a man. I don't have a vagina so people don't inherently care about me.
I even commented on a fitness girls picture and she didn't even like my comment!. I gave her dead comment section some much needed engagement but she didnt even appreciate it!
going to delete that comment now.

Thanks op!
