Modern-day Eastern Europe is way better than the West if you want to live a peaceful life srs.

It depends OP. If you live in a nice part of Sochi or Kazan or Petersburg it can be quite nice. If you live in Govnonasransk in the middle of Siberia it's pretty chit.

The same could be said about the US - there's Detroit, Philly, Oakland, inner Chicago, Baltimore and so forth but you wouldn't call the entire country chit because of these ghettos.

If you like horrible weather, hockey, ballet, vodka and pickled fish it's probably the best option after Finland.

I mean yeah but it’s a big beautiful country with some of the coolest architecture in the world.

I think the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at was in Moscow.

But the culture shock behind the decadence and opulence and what regular people live like there is staggering.

But we have billionaire neighborhood and crack dens in America too so who knows.

Difference with Russia I think is there was never a middle class really, and America is just destroying its middle class. I would guess we’re around the same spot right now.

Most of it is. You have nice parts like Moscow and the far western oblasts near Europe, but the vast majority of the country is indeed a depressing, crumbling chithole.
