I mean, people who grew up in Russia (particularly during the transition from USSR) could point out numerous good things and bad things

But what you say about people being ignorant about foreign leaders is probably true about any person living in any country

FWIW he did a good job stabilising both the economy and the geopolitical issues that arose during the 90’s/2000’s taking over from the clown Yeltsin particular with the administrative regions and securing allegiance from the regional elites but since then much of what he’s done has been to consolidate power in the Kremlin rather than the good of the people or the Country

Listened to about half of it. I think Putin makes some points but also frames it like he's the good guy in every story. It's interesting how he claims the CIA has more power than the president. I do believe that.

How far ahead do I have to skip to get past the Russian history lesson?

I'm interested to hear anything he has to say relating to current affairs but couldn't give less of a chit about 8th century Russia or whatever the fuk he's talking about at the start.
I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

Thought it was a good interview. Doesn't really change my opinion on anything. It was just nice to hear straight from the horses mouth where Russia stands versus the media telling us what to think.

I could see why certain news media wouldn't like this interview because it damages their narrative.

Yup. He could be the goat. He and James O'Keefe are 2 of the most important journalists imo

I've got a lot of respect that he was able to go from establishment narrative propagandist to admitting his wrongs, seeing the truth, and now questioning power.

A little over 3/4’s through. A summary of the key points:

-There are unique ties between russia and Ukraine that is none of the west’s business (he didn’t say that second part but it’s implied)

-Following ww2 Ukraine struggled for its identity and some joined neo Nazi factions. Putin cites Nazi leader being celebrated in Canadian parliament with Zelenskyy present as evidence.

https://youtu.be/d7sFxJbcYvg?si=RCFOtWByh-RIXcsU

-The 2014 election of Zelenskyy was a coup and further NATO expansion after already having broken the Russia-US agreement by entering the Baltic states into NATO

-Most importantly, Putin just frankly states the obvious that the US is corrupted by its military industrial complex left over from the Cold War and warns that they are missing the mark as the real threat to USA comes from Asian economies

The conversation was challenged by the language barrier but he was very measured and didn’t say anything too offensive. Overall Nothing really earth shattering if you took your head away from cnn once in the last 10 years

eh, let's not pretend he doesn't have skeletons in his closet.

Far too many people that oppose his rule or run against him for leadership have come up missing, poisoned, pushed out of windows or have been killed in "malfunctioning" plane crashes for it to be a coincidence.

Lol at the comments itt.
No Wonder USA/the West is controlled by elites.
The plebs of society only want tiktok Clips where someone gets «owned»
What is the point of a «democracy» when the population is brain dead & cant listen to a 2 hour interview to form a real opinion about a real matter your government is heavily involved in.

Brb go back to watching videos of Trump owning CNN or Biden falling down stairs.

I watched it. I agree with miscers who said it was boring. Not because there was no "drama" but because It was a very predictable interview and everything he said was information we already knew. We didn't expect Putin to release State secrets, but Carlson shouldn't have given him such a softball underhanded granny throw of an interview.

Putin had no interest in answering Tucker Carlson's questions. He had an agenda and went about relaying it the best way he knew how. The first hour was a lecture, not an interview. Putin stated that the Ukrainian regime in 2014 with Viktor Yanukovych wanted to join EU and NATO but Putin wouldn't allow it because of apparent "agreements" that had been signed in 2010 by the prior regime. He left out the part where he strongarmed Viktor Yanukovych to change course, which caused a rebellion and uprising in Ukraine and that's when Russia took the Donbas and Crimea regions by force. He then stated that the recent invasion is due to Zelensky's regime not adhering to the supposed agreements signed in 2010.

Dude was reciting history for the whole first 30 minutes, he has a strong grasp on history and was even taken times dating back to 1600s Prussia. It was interesting for me at least
