Paper bag popcorn is goat

I bought a 50 pack of paper bags and some kernels. Anytime I want popcorn I just dump some in a bag, fold the end closed and go. Set the microwave to 3 minutes and stop it when the pops slow down.

No greasy bs, no stove, no chemical butter.. no problem.

You can still add butter.. I just meant wasting a bunch of oil to pop it on the stove.

Need more proof that a simple paper bag works.

You need oil to coat the kernels so they pop better IMO. Does the bag get greasy from your oil? Does it not burn the dry bag parts?

Seems like a lot of work for small amount of burned popcorn.

You need to get a Whirly Pop. Chit is gimmicky but I've been using one since 2008, and its great, uses very little oil, you can make as much or little as you want, and its harder to burn unlike microwave, where you have 5 seconds between popped, and everything is burned.

https://www.whirleypopshop.com/Bedbath used to have them, not sure what happened. But still being sold somewhere and very handy for making big batches of corn for your netflix&Fuk nights

You don’t need to coat them in anything and none of it’s burned.. I’ve done it 5 times in the last 2 weeks. It’s easy as can be.

I make popcorn in a pot. Just a bit of oil and some kernels. Big thing full in just minutes.

Never tried the bag.

I never understood how people struggle with popcorn on the stove

Like get a big pot, get it smoking hot with some oil, drop the popcorn in and use a big metal bowl for the lid. Shake the pot while clamping the bowl to the pot with towels and applying pressure onto the stove grates so it slides smooth. Dump pot into bowl and add seasonings.

If you don’t go crazy with the oil it should look like a dry clean pot that can be wiped out, the popped corn should more than absorb it.

It’s also much faster than a microwave if you have a good stove or pot is already hot.

Fuk that.

Back in the 2000s, i spent a year buying all sorts of popcorn salts and seasonings. They all sucked. I mostly tried butter salts, to try and emulate the one I grew up on. NONE OF THEM got anywhere close to the GOAT. Dollar Stores used to sell this, but now its impossible to find.

In 2010 I literally bought an entire case of the fukcing things, just so I could get a single bottle. Thats how good this stuff is. I still have a few bottles left 15 years later, and flavor is still just as good as brand new.

I HIGHLY recommend finding the "Spice Supreme" "popcorn salt".

It is so great, that I put this stuff on frozen veggies (heated up of course), Put it on popcorn (duh) on potatoes, pretty much any food you would put both salt and butter on, I use this instead. SRS. No other brand or knockoff is close to how amazing this exact salt is.

It looks like Amazon has it, with a slightly different color label. I cannot guarantee it tastes identical, but for $2, I'd say give it a try. You will NEVER use any other salt on your popcorn, or veggies....

That brand of seasoning brings back memories. Havent see that brand since I was a kid visiting my grandparents

as for popcorn seasonings. anything will work you just have to a seasoning that is fine enough to stick to the popped kernels you can even use coarser seasoning and throw it into a "Ninja" blender until its a fine powder

However if you want the authentic movie theater popcorn taste, you can just buy Flavacol which is what all Cinemas use. Probably not the healthiest, but it is good:

It’s not faster… it takes 2 minutes and 45 seconds total my way. Start to finish.

No thanx jeff.

I'm not looking to replicate movie theater oil or its flavor.

But yes, the Spice Surpreme brand is a VERY fine powder, so it sticks WELL to anything, unlike normal table salt that just falls to the bottom of a bowl. And again, its VERY versatile, and can be used on ANYTHING that normally gets salt and butter. I refuse to use anything but this exact brand for popcorn, or meal seasoning (or the appropriate food items)

Seriously give it a try. You don't need to blender your salt. It comes GOAT straight out of the bottle.

Popcorn pops in under a minute on the stove…

You act like turning the fire on and placing a pot and bowl out takes longer than 15seconds. Can easily get to heat in a minute with a 18k+ btu burner and a good pot.

Didn't even know the brand still existed let alone a popcorn seasoning version of it. I'd have to do some searching for it.
