david goggins
just finished reading his book can't hurt me. dude is impressive but also retoaded. What's the point in callousing your mind when you are destroying your body? You can push through your perceived limits but you should stop before you do irreparable harm. if what he describes in his book is true, he could have died on more than one occasion
For those that hate on him, if you took on his mentality when it comes to lifting, you would be sub 10% bf and shredded.

I'd rather not wake up in pain in my 40s, which will get even worse year by year.

He is just continuing to play out the abuse and trauma from his childhood as an adult. It's all he knows.

He is a man with remarkable feats and extreme discipline. But I agree with OP that he takes it too far to where it's unhealthy.
Being some physical labor slave will get you fit and keep you humble, but your life and health are always at stake.
I support the idea of frequent cardio, monitoring your macros, and doing things you don't want to do because you know you should. That should be what is taught. Not jeopardizing your life.

He mentions that most people stop at 40% when doing something but perceive it as having giving it their 100% all. If you pushed past 40% and stopped at let's say 60-70%, you'd be way above average in whatever you're doing
Goggins goes to 100% which is when his life and health become in danger

I think he's too try hard and cringy, like Ray Lewis, but at least he inspires people
You aren't gonna live forever, and its far more respectable to have health problems because you worked too hard.
Plus even if you think he worked too hard, he's more successful than 90% of people, seems like a bunch of people will cope saying chit like yeah I'm glad I sat on my couch all day and didn't do extreme workouts since they're bad for your health

I have not looked too deeply into him, but he's probably just a phony that says stuff to sell his books or workouts. He probably does regular workouts, and drugs, and lies like all the rest of the fitness professionals.
Someone mentioned Renaissance Periodization is getting pushed by youtube. I'm glad Dr. Mike is getting promoted more. He's honest and gives realistic advise.

If he were to die today, he would be content with death and how he lived his life with no regrets. Not many people could say that

There's something about his achievements and the way he recounts taking on physical challenges that can be inspirational at certain moments.
But what really stood out in the book was that he was struggling to achieve in so many facets of his life. Broken relationships, failed relationships with his children, inability to ever get promoted in the military, lack of proper friends.
Like the guy above said, he is acting out the damage done by his childhood abuse through extreme self flagellation. I guess he's a "success" now in terms of fame and book sales, but even in his own self promoting account you can see that he's not a model for to take control of your life and be any kind of winner.

edit - well, besides the arguments that mental and endurance is something tony doesnt need more of and goggins is useless vs goggins stuff getting tonys head back into the right place
the whole tony smiling after goggins thought hes done in one of his endurance things story was giving people hope but pushing 40 is pushing 40

I do admire his perseverance, but a lot of his philosophy I can't get behind. I saw a clip of him talking to a guy whose wife was divorcing him. The guy was torn up about it and David Goggins just told him to suck it up and move the fuk on. I mean it sounded to me like the guy loved his wife (well now ex-wife) so he was having trouble coping with the emotions of it all plus I'm sure the impending divorce was making him anxious.
In my opinion the best way is to process your emotions fully through instead of sucking it up and playing stoic all the time. You go through a bunch of **** and all the pains then come out the other side stronger instead of saying you tried to bypass it by ignoring it.
