Hurr Durr, I want to only work 32 hrs a week, and I want the business to pay me for 40 hrs a week, and I don't want this to apply to hospital workers, police officers, firefighters, teachers, construction workers, those who work in power plants, etc.....

Construction workers are twice as smart as you and work three times as hard
So yes, you are not the same
Which is evidenced by the fact that, the market rewards construction workers with remuneration that is multiples of your poverty income

Having at least 1 day a week where you can go to bed without setting an alarm clock or thinking twice about having to wake up at a certain time is the most underrated thing in the world.

I WFH, the change in quality in my life has been insane. No more 1-2 hours total commute every day, eating better, sleeping better, feel so much better...it's honestly such an improvement over my previous office job.
The only people who dislike WFH are old and/or jealous people that don't have the option.

Overtime tradie checking in. Only way to make 55-60hr/weeks work is to start work at 5-6am and finish at 4-5pm. If you can start and finish your day earlier than everyone, its less competition that eats up time (traffic, gym, shopping, ect).
5am-4pm 5x week
Work until mid afternoon Saturday
Have all day Saturday and Sunday to do whatever
I lift 5x week, run 5x week, get 7-8hrs sleep, and cook every meal I eat.
Still find myself with an hour or two to kill on Sundays after I've messed around with multiple hobbies.
Granted its a grind and not sustainable if you start adding kids, wife/serious GF, high maintenance social groups, ect.
Grind it out in your 20's, step off the gas in your 30's and establish a family, enjoy the fruits of your labor in your 40's. Nothing more sad than someone who didn't plan for life financially having to make sacrifices for their kids that grinds their body and soul to dust. Burnt out with gray hair at 40 because you didn't invest and work weekends in your 20's....SAD!

Heres something to consider. Some of us have enough discipline and foresight to choose the right career path and get a job that they actually enjoy. Im on the clock miscing right now. And when I get back to work its a podcast, walking and chemistry. Easy and sustainable. Try it sometime.

Having said that, greater flexibility opens the door to greater abuse, and this is the main “weakness” of flexible working. I think the reason most CEOs and businesses wanna prescribe a particular working arrangement is not because it maximises productivity, but rather because it cuts down on people potentially taking advantage of them.
The problem is actually very similar to what we have with the educational system. Formal education is pretty standardised across the whole country, but for every person it works well for there is another person it doesn’t suit at all.

It's funny how all this environmental crap and nobody will adopt fewer day workweek and stagger times better for less traffic. It's always funny how they only want policies that cost you money and decrease your freedoms while instituting move government control.

I also like my co-workers - we all get on really well and meet up regularly - so that's a moot point. In terms of not having a commute I assume you're referencing being a beat cop and your job basically being driving around all day? Well that's covered by me saying how WFh wouldn't be an option for you anyway.
And yes, my job isn't essential because I don't work in construction, medical care or the army etc - but that's pretty irrelevant since it still pays pretty well and has a lot of room for progression. I'm sure that one day AI will supplant roles in the finance sector, but until that time I'll keep collecting my money for doing it from home - how weird you'd bring up a job being essential or not as some kind of insult, just proves my point that WFH makes you seethe.
