It's not even lack of due diligence. The banks most definitely knew the real value, but didn't care because the loans would make them tons of money.

If anything, it's the banks that should be held accountable, not Trump.

100% this case gets appealed, and no money will ever be paid. All this circus show is designed to do is turn away voters. Election Interference.

He has to post the full 350+ million for an appeal. The 80+ million from the Carroll case will also need to be posted. In other words, unless he can secure a huge bond, he’ll need more than 400 million on hand if he’s to avoid selling assets.

It’s going to be quite humiliating when Trump is publicly forced to sell assets to pay his penalties.

Lol @ "committing bank fraud is the bank's fault and they should be held accountable, not the person who defrauded the bank."

Double lol @ thinking business fraud will turn away voters when he's got some big boy indictments glooming.

Lol, methuselah.

My understanding is a little different. He needs to post the bonds/cash if he doesn't want to start forfeiting assets 30 days post verdict while the appeal happens. He's not obligated to post the bonds/cash in order to appeal. Of course, my understanding could be incorrect. And of course he's not gonna want to start forfeiting assets, so the net result is likely the same - bond/cash posted while he appeals. Wonder if anyone will offer him a bond?

Or Trump shouldn't have committed fraud. You know, the crime he was convicted of.

Or maybe don't commit fraud.

My understanding is he has to post all of it plus interest at the start. With the $5 million judgement against him last year, he had to put up $5.5 million to appeal.

If he wants a bond, he has to put up around 20% and collateralize the rest, as well as fees. I'm guessing rather than fire sale some property, he'll collateralize it and pay the fees.

Looks like interest will need to be paid too. Apparently there's already $100m in accrued interest if the article in the link is correct:

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/jaw-drop...erest-ag-says/
...

Donald Trump and the other defendants were ordered to pay $463.9 million. That represents $363.9 million in disgorgement, plus $100 million in interest, which will continue to increase every single day until it is paid.”

There shouldn't have even been a case. Everyone knows the judge was crooked. Something worth a 1.5 billion and judge accepts valuation of $18m right off the bat you know he's crooked as fuk

He didn't accept it. He just made a note that the county assessed value is like 100 times smaller and his attorneys couldn't credibly prove it's worth what they said it was.

I think your understanding is correct. But as you mentioned he’ll have to post the full amount regardless. He hasn’t be able to secure a bond for the 80 million so it’s unlikely he’ll secure one to cover much of this.

$1 Trillion is State revenue has already left NY for its ridiculous taxes and fabricated rulings and this decision based on politics will accelerate the exodus of businesses.

The judge made his decision on day 1 and not as a result of evidence.

Maybe don't commit bank fraud?

And you're aware Trump picked the judge to rule rather than a jury right?

Why are you Trumpers completely unable to admit your guy is a crook? Why do you continue to, as Bushtard says, DEFEND him?

Bank fraud was not proven. The banks and accountants would have had to be in on it. All parties were paid. Negotiating terms on loans is normal business.

This was a political hit job. He is not my guy. I am a businessman. You support the ruling because all of your comments and decisoins are based purely on politics and hatred of the opposing team and not on business or otherwise. /

You're aware Trump's CFO is in prison right?

And no matter how much you scream hit job it doesn't change the facts that I have mentioned already. Trump got fined for committing fraud. Period.

I am a businessperson too. I don't cheat on my taxes and lie to banks.

Looking forward to you pointing out how biased Judge Cannon has been in favor of Trump... oh wait... not a single word from anyone on that.

Like Bushtard says, you're defending him by making excuses and blaming everyone but Trump. Grow up.
