Tuchel doesn’t have it anymore clearly. It’s like he’s gone the way of José Mourino or something. Bayern should not be losing three straight, with that roster. Fire him

yup, Slimani

you can instantly tell he has a ton of experience, good recruit for Mechelen

already gave the assist for the winning goal this weekend (also got the softest penalty of all time given against him)

Porto shock arsenal in the first leg with a last gasp bomb, what a shot!

Can they take that lead into England and hold on??

I don't think Arsenal did a lot wrong, and 1-0goingto the Emirates is much at all. Notice the massive difference Arsenal play between home and away.

Personally I just think Raya has a bit to answer for, and Porto seemed to just be grinding and just minimize Arsenal's attacking opportunities. The end goal was a real smash and grab which I think even shocked Porto themselves.

I think even Arteta was just banking on a draw. Porto is not an easy place to go and get 3 points. This is a minor setback and we will come back for the home game with some tactical changes.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Do you prefer the way Germany does the promotion playoff, or England? On one hand it’s exciting that you just have to be top 6 in the ELC to have a shot to go up which leaves like 10-15 teams in contention most of the campaign, but it’s also cool having 3rd best in B2 playing 3rd worst in Bundesliga in a cross league matchup for a spot in the top flight which I don’t think you see anywhere else.

I think I lean towards the way England does it because cross division games feels kind of like a cup. But I think I could be persuaded with a good enough argument to prefer the way Germany does it lol.

it's also due to the difference in teams in the league imo, 18/18 vs 20/24

so 3 direct going down seems more justifable in a league of 20 than in a league of 18, same for the chance of promotion top 3 for 18 or top 6 for 24

however I'm not a fan of the play-off format, would prefer to see a final round with those 4 teams, 6 matches each

Lmao wat? A mini league after a league instead of playoffs? That's the kind of chit only a Belgian could come up with.

Maybe we half their regular table points and take that as a starting point?

it was like this in Belgium from the seventies until the retarded POs made their entry

second divison calender was divided into 3 almost equal parts (10-12-12 games) and if you won one of these parts you were "periodekampioen" and you were assured of a place in the final tour of 4 called "eindronde"

so depending on how many teams took one of these periods and didn't auto-promote it was filled with the top ranked teams to come to a total of 4

these played in 6 playrounds to determine the final promotion spot

now in England it works solely on ranking and imo the top-3 should just auto-promote but if you insist on a system for places 3-6 it seems a lot more fair to me to create a mini league like the "eindronde" compared to a 1 game all-or nothing PO pairing as it is today

it's all artificial suspense

it IS artifical suspense though

I'm a huge fan of the cup competitions since it sets the stage for upsets and excitement but when it comes to promotion or relegation it's the result of an entire season and by the PO format it's pretty pissening to see it turning out to be a single game deciding

in Belgium the artifical suspense is the absolute worst though, it's as Barteh described but it decides who becomes CHAMPION lmfao, that's entirely fukked

you could dominate an entire regular season and see half your point taken away so it ends up with a deciding game (this has been the case multiple times already) -> muh excitement, muh tension, muh emotion

no, gtfo, it's artificial

you could even play an entire season flip a coin and play a final game on Wembley and the winner is champion, for sure this would be exciting, but it would be artifical as fuk (this is in extreme how I feel about POs)

That game..was awful to watch...pretty boring, but CL first legs can be like this...credit to Porto they defended really well, and just looked for fouls. Some people are saying Raya is to blame for that goal yeah his positioning wasn't great, but that's still an amazing shot, and Martinelli gave the ball away should've just held on to it.

With that said I think Arsenal still go through...Home form is good, and I think they will come out guns blazing bby. I can see Porto playing a defensive structure once again, but Arsenal score on a set piece early, and open up Porto opening up the counter attack for Arsenal.. I'll say Arsenal 3-0.

I think playoffs are the perfect mix of fun and not too much over the top made up (or artificial as you weirdly call it). Instead of the number 10 or 12 in the league knowing 6 games before the end that they need to play 6 more games but there's no real reason to, they still have something to fight for.

The games itself are fun too. If you can find a healthy mix, which they did imo in England, it's a great system.

not sure if my plea was clear, I just prefer a league style "play-off" over a knock-out one

and only for promotion spots or the last European ticket or something, not for the title

Wasn't clear at all. There's no reason to say cup style playoffs are "artificial" while league style playoffs aren't. If you prefer it that's fine but I don't really see any kind of rational argument.

Obviously agreed on the part that any kind of playoffs should stay far away from titles.

Also, did you guys invent that whole periodekampioen thing and did we just copy it from you? Never heard of that chit outside of the Netherlands lol.
