If you’re in coding or software or engineering or white collar paper pushing or HR you’re likely to lose your job to AI in the coming years. There’s obviously other fields that’ll be on the chopping block too that I’m not thinking of atm.
If you think you’ll be phased out by AI post what you do and what you’ll switch to when it happens.

I might but it will likely take more than a couple years years for AI technology to get advanced enough to do my job. I would just switch to a more consulting-type role in the same industry, which will always be around

You either die a coder or live long enough to become a tradie.

I'm in accounting and WFH and figured I had 5-7 years. I actually REALLY hope I'm wrong and I have just 2 years. Why's your timeline so soon?

I'll just pretend I can't speak English and make more on welfare than I do now. So keep breaking those backs so I can start getting a new iPhone every year.

Fukkin lol at people that don’t work in IT thinking they know chit about AI and its usefulness. Go let an AI run your production applications and watch everything crash.
It’s so fukkin annoying how good everyone thinks it is. I spend more time trying to correct AI than just writing whatever code myself

Will continue to WFH while taxpaying cucks are getting up at 6:00AM to begin their daily commute to their job site to fund my 90th percentile salary, healthcare and pension.
Absolutely brutal.

Also, I'm DOD and Repooblicans have a hard-on for the military. Even if they come back to power and do a RiF it'll be the IRS, Department of Education/Labor/Housing & Urban Development, etc. that get their jobs cut.

I'm in Cyber Security for a big company.
From ~2015-2020 layoffs were a non-factor for my industry as a whole. 2020-2022 I heard of other companies (including bigger ones) doing layoffs for their cyber security teams, but not my company. 2023-2024 there has already been a fairly significant mass exodus for my company in the cyber security organizations. The ones who were let go were given nice compensation packages at the least, but a lot of them weren't "technical" or well suited for the job, some had super long tenures doing non-technical work and it seemed like they were difficult to get rid of. This "mass exodus", wasn't a reduction in team member count mind you, there's new hires that joined or will join.
Now going forward, those who remain are, at least largely, expected to remain.
I don't foresee losing my job, at least involuntarily, in the next couple of years. Unless I do something heinous or inexcusable.
