Obviously agreed on the part that any kind of playoffs should stay far away from titles.

Also, did you guys invent that whole periodekampioen thing and did we just copy it from you? Never heard of that chit outside of the Netherlands lol.
what I meant with artifical is you create consistent "huge" matches where everything is possible by making it a do or die thing

this of course garners a lot of attention but I don't feel this is afair representation of anentire season run

you can be excellent for 40+ games, have 1 off-day and end up with nothing... in a league style format chances are higher that the best team ends on top

but this means there are more matches with "medium" stakes that don't really appeal to a broader audience as much as the one game knockout format

KO format, huge upsets, underdogs making it, ... are for cup competitions imo

don't know where the priodekampioen originates from, it was like that when I was born lol, now it's only still in use in the amateur leagues

have to admit I really like the concept, it creates a whole new and fresh dynamic

Were you a man city fan when they were a club who were happy to just stay up every season, or did you jump on the bandwagon when they came under Saudi ownership and started buying their championships?

Only watched the first 7-8 goals but literally all of them were bad defending and/or goal keeping lol

Evertons deduction changed from 10 to 6 points, they are now 5 clear of the relegation zone.

I hate Everton more than any club, but I’d rather see a team go down strictly because of their record and not these dumb penalties so ok with the decision. Here’s to hoping for a bunch of Everton losses and the Lutons and Crystal Palaces of the table going on a winning streak..

what's your gripe with Everton anyway?

please don't tell me it's just because Leicester went down and they didn't

Overhyped every year. “Biggest club in England outside of the big 6!” All these supposed derbies they have with other teams. All of their average players that have been completely overhyped over the years (remember when trash leighton Bain’s was supposedly the best LB in the world???hahaha).

When is the last time Everton was even halfway decent (forget good)? Yet they get this praise and hype they don’t deserve. They’ve lost over $100M five years in a row, and everyone celebrates when they stay up like they’re burnley or something. They need to go down and stay in the championship for a decade or so

historically they are a massive club, they've always been there since the beginning

so they're not wrong when they call it a big club even though they're not really competing at the top right now

also I hardly see anyone hyping up Everton tbh

and what those losses are concerned I guess it might have something to do with the insane new stadium they're building

seems more fair than City digging holes to pay exuberant transfer fees and wages giving the finger to FFP

Not sure if that's an Everton thing or a thing with English players in general lol.

Leverkusen 10 points ahead

would love to see an unbeaten Bundesliga run tbh, never done before

in The Netherlands a perfect season is also still possible for PSV

wouldn't be the first time though (Ajax did it twice before)

Arsenal can win, it's not like out of the realms of possibility, but it's def Arsenal v Liverpool V Man City now. Arsenal splashed some major cash getting Rice and Havertz, Timber etc. But the team is still missing a seriously good striker. It's the piece of the puzzle missing.

Everything else is there. Arsenal play seriously good football and they're in contention for more than one piece of silverware. It's just the finishing which needs work. Jesus is not a prolific scorer.

So I would be doubtful of winning the Prem but definitely UCL. Arteta is young and already competing with Klopp and Pep. That's some major progress from where they were. Can't really fault the guy when your only real competition are two seasoned legends of football coaching.

IMO, Arsenal really need to get into the bidding for Mbappe to make a serious effort to procure him. Mbappe at Arsenal would absolutely seal the deal.

0.001% chance of happening, but still, at least rustle Madrid's jimmies.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Retire for life odds. It won't happen, but still, they should enter the bid and rustle Madrid's jimmies.

new coach since November (11/36 under the old one...)

didn't take long to mold the team to his hand

31/48 (of which 20/24 after New Year)

main thing is he uses the players he has to their capabilities

the previous one wanted to play a certain system/football and he tried to push this through even though he didn't have the players designed for that (highly technical and refined lol)

it has to happen this weekend though: a win against Westerlo and at least 2 out of 3 others need to lose points (Cercle, Gent, Genk)

last game away at OHL is gonna be a hard one, ideally a draw is enough (this would mean Gent and Genk losing at least 1 of their 2 last games)

would be a pretty insane comeback, from relegation play-offs to championship play-offs lol
