I feel back home on the tennis court after 2 years

It’s like “Welcome Home”.

I have a lot of plans for tournaments and leagues.

I’m insanely sore as I took a lesson from a guy who played on the tour.

Can't see how those knees will last more than 10 minutes hauling around 250lbs.

I don't weigh anywhere near 250 lbs and I have already had 2 1-hour lessons where my heart rate was at 150-160 for a whole hour. UGH. I'm so sore. He was just blasting balls at me nonstop.

I know that's too high given my age (220-52 = 168). Then they say you shouldn't go above 80-90% of that, which is 151.2 for 90%.

In b4 heart attack with my high cholesterol.

Plus I did 2 sessions on the ball machine--one for 45 min and one for 1 hour yesterday. The private lesson was for an hour Friday night.

I still have to lift to keep my muscle mass but I can't lift as often with tennis as it will screw me up if I have a match the next day.

I think the cardio will be helpful because walking and lifting weren't really pushing my heart rate up that high at all--maybe 110-120.

It's a lot moar fun than running or do any type of cardio because you are more focused on the strategy and the game. Plus it's HIIT cardio when you play singles.

I used to teach tennis. We teach it now with these transition balls that start as foam balls and then transition to the balls you see at Wimbledon.

It doesn't make sense to teach beginners on the same ball you see the pros play with? The theory is a lot of people dropped out because of that, with the exception of people like me and others who have good eye-hand coordination.

Thank you! I'm excited as they now have tournaments for 50+ in singles! They didn't have those before. They only had 55+ in doubles and I suck at doubles, although I'm working to change that.

I miss Ernie McCracken as he was a tennis MOGGER.

I'm still sooooo sore. I wake up with my arm in horrendous pain so I canceled my session on the ball machine yesterday.

I'm glad you're excited for me! Now I have a core reason to train when I'm so exhausted from my medication. That is the toughest on T/W/Th when I have a long commute on top of work.

Well, I give you credit for getting back on the tennis court again.

I see a therapist once every 2 weeks.

I had the BEST time with two former tennis teammates at a cocktail lounge. We all had this guy Pedro who stalked literally any attractive woman at the tennis club with constant compliments.

It really worked for him because even though he was average looking and married with two kids he had some affairs with some really beaitufl women. One young Hispanic woman had a baby with him.

He would say, "Dusty your hair is glistening in the moonlight". He always asked the ladies if they lost weight as that was his opener.

BBMG and the other incels should learn how Pedro pulled.

Although he annoyed all of us. He would call me every Valentines Day and Mothers Day and come out to watch my tennis matches. Then this tennis lady got divorced so she wanted to hit the clubs with me all of the time, but she would call up Pedro so he would show up! Then he tried to kiss me but he had horrible breath and I knew he was just this ridiculous player.

The women who had affairs with him ended up being so gossiped about that they had to leave the club. Pedro isn't worth that.

Gosh I'm really struggling with pickleball. I see that pickleball courts are taking over tennis courts. I played it twice and I didn't like how the ball bounces so low, I can't hit spin because there are no strings, I can't hit a full swing or the ball will go out, the scoring is so weird in comparison on to tennis, and my instruction said I couldn't use a 2 handed backhand.

I'm like dude I've been using a 2 handed backhand for 40 years--how can I stop that? I have a slice backhand where i release the second hand but that's different. Now my new tennis instructor said that I can use a 2 handed backhand in pickelball and he'd be happy to work with me part times in tennis and part time on pickelball.

I'm still struggling with wanting to do pickleball, even though it would be less running and easier on my body.
