I'm honestly quite busy ATM and don't really have a lot of free time to sit down and read. But I was a heavy avid reader in my youth and early 20's. Galileo's Pendulum, Where the Red Fern Grows, Jack London, been taking peeks at The Iliad recently, and my father has a huge library collection of war books that I have been mulling over. I also have the full collection from GOT which I never unwrapped (seems like a sin to do that) and so I have those to read too.

Who said anything about people who read are reading textbooks???? Unless you're in school, like myself, people wouldn't be going to textbooks for reading. And since Tate is claiming reading in general is stupid, I don't understand how you came to the conclusion he would of been talking about reading books in an information based or educational setting. People read because it's relaxing, destresses, entertains, and allows your mind to wander away from reality just like people who go to the movies, this guy is an obvious knob hob who probably has the mentality and reading skills of an 8th grader and in today's world it's becoming more obvious the dumber you are the richer you can become. Intelligence these days doesn't count for much and the more of an idiot you can make yourself the more people will want to follow you and you end up making more $$. Quite sad actually.

Exactly. Not to mention because a lot of people don't like to read, by reading book for information and applying it, such as dating, investing, etc you're actually ahead of the game versus somebody who doesn't and just go out there and do the chit.
Entertaining yourself beyond the typical topics people seem to be stuck on and revolve around these days? Do I expect we will go back to Midlevel times and have to wear armor and lug 20 pound swords? No. But it's fun to read about. Same thing with any other genre whether it's fantasy, history or sci-fi. People need to unplug and this is a way to do it. That's what they're doing.

Not clicking a link, but reading books are great but if you don't actually move into action and do chit, reading all the books in the world are is going to matter.

Idk. It won't seem advantageous to read a book in a high risk environment (one where your life is on the line more often) than a low risk environment (low crime, etc.).
