The new Crow looks awful

Scheduled for June 2024 release. I love the original, but these pictures make me wince. I don't like the tattoos especially.

His girlfriend is also a black girl (the original was a regular white/white couple), so there is the usual mandatory wokeness too

I really don't think anyone was asking for a Crow remake. The original holds up very well. I don't understand why Hollywood has this obsession with trying to make the Crow into a franchise. Its not. Wasn't ever intended to be. The original movie was great, the sequels were lackluster, the TV series was a dud, the video game sucked ass...why couldn't they just release The Crow (1994) and leave it at that? The remake is going to be crap. Its going to feel like some dude LARPing as Brandon Lee in yet another mediocre sequel. Nothing about it will seem genuine.

One reason the sequels (and soon this remake too) have all failed is that the original benefited from the time. Brandon Lee's appearance, his character's rock-star background, and the gothic imagery aligned with the brooding grunge music scene of the 1990s. Brandon Lee's death, morbidly, added another layer of awe to the movie too. You just can't recreate the context in which the original movie came out. Best to leave this one alone instead of remaking it

I'll watch it. Bill Skaarsgard is a decent actor, I think he has the chops for it.

I wouldn't totally compare it to the original or even the sequel. Based on the first two movies, it seems like "the crow" isn't meant to be one person like a hero or anti-hero, but anyone that was severely wronged in life and given the chance for revenge/justice before fully passing on.

Will watch it because of Skaarsgard but if the trailer looks like a woke mess I'm just gonna watch the original instead. I like the idea of the Crow being passed on like Clive said and you could make it work but it can't be trying to recreate the same era as the original and needs to be set in modern times with a character that fits the setting. RIP Brandon Lee.

I hate the remakes myself, it's like they just figure since the originals were good a copy/paste will be. I'd rather a mediocre original idea than the same old sht as before.

this is all very true. for the time is was a really interesting and niche movie. a cult classic. it is still worth watching today

not into remakes. i'll download it and watch it on the 65" in the dark. but not holding out any hopes of it being decent. all current movies with any wokeness are floating turds
