Probably not darkest but coldest:

Had a girlfriend who I helped move to another town for a new job. Uhauled her stuff and dropped her off after setting everything up. That very night she went to a party in the upstairs unit she got invited to and banged a guy she just met on the bed I put together hours before.

A few years ago I saw an older Chinese woman jaywalking across a busy Boston street and she got run over by a dump truck. Her head was mashed like an egg. Just a mess. I have pictures of it on an older phone somewhere.

Saw a kid drown at the neighborhood pool growing up. Poor lifeguard was some high schooler.
Came across a cyclist who had been hit by a car a few minutes prior, first death I had seen.
A close family friend turned out to be a pe dophile.
Extreme poverty in Kathmandu.
Went to one of my student's funerals who had just graduated high school, knew him and his family so well and he had his whole life ahead of him.
Offered underage prostitutes in Cuba on the street.

Feel very fortunate tbh that that is the worst I have experienced.

there was no moon that night and there was like some weird partial cloud cover blocking light from big city like 100 miles away

before we got a fire going and when we turned our cars off it was so fkin dark, could not see shiit

Seeing my dads dead body as a kid, slowly died of cancer. Must have been 100lbs. Will never forget the smell of death and seeing such a strong man reduced to that... Watching them carry out his body ruined me.
