I had the worst job of my life before the one I have now. I absolutely hated it. I had a new coworker that was telling me about how awesome his last job he got fired from was. I applied and somehow got it. I now have a job I really like most of the time and they pay me more than I ever imagined making. Just keep looking and applying

The problem with starting a side hustle is you don't know what yet.
I haven't figured out much of anything. I got to r/sweatystartups from time to time.
Home/Commercial inspection? Need at least 2 years experience
Shed builder? I'm not handy with tools at all.
Lawn Service? Not really interested.
Pressure washing? Meh. Too labor intensive

Easy answer, make your passion and purpose into something that provides value for society so you can be compensated for it.
I've worked at jobs I've hated. I don't think I've had a job I really liked, since I think it is rare. So I went to school and earned a bunch of degrees so I can have the career I want so it's not as if I'm torturing myself to put food on the table.
I've spent longer than most people in school, but worth it. I can't imagine anything worse than 9-5 hell and living pay check to pay check. If your purpose ain't your vocation, don't even bother.

Basically sweaty start ups. Those cost basically nothing. Handyman would have the highest overhead cost, but that's about $500 for tools.

The ultimate ways to cope:
- Balance work output to do above the bare minimum, be above your peers in areas where it counts, but not quite being the top performer or putting every moment of every work hour into it. Sort of like quiet quitting in a sense, particularly because you're emotionally detached from your work, but not to the point where you're a negative outlier on the chop block.
- Work from home. Get chores done, listen to podcasts/music/youtube, misc, put on some good TV/movies/sports in the background. Make your work hours as convenient as possible, while also getting paid to do some non-work things like chores.
- Make the job something that is convenient for you but not a necessity for you. Have more than enough liquid cash accessible to survive for a year or longer to enable sufficient "vacation down time" and "job hunting down time" as needed if you're on the chop block. This adds a peace of mind in itself too. It helps if you "live below your means" so that your monthly CoL is affordable even if your salary was cut in half, so a potential future lower paying job is still sufficient enough for you if it comes to it, your lifestyle wouldn't have to change much.
- Invest excess cash, so that eventually you're making more from your investments than your job pays. At that point, you may still not be able to retire, but it further lessens the "need of the job" and diminishes your care levels.

The one I suggested to Void since being in the coffee industry was the only thing I knew about him at the time was as follows..
He is in Texas so these can probably be spotted everywhere..pick up a beat up old horse trailer that people are looking to get rid of for cheap, something like this..

Watch some videos on restoration on YT or find a friend that is handy and throw him some dough to remodel it and make it into a small barista stand, go to some business parks and serve up some coffee.

Find a local that sells pastries and ask to sell them in your trailer and give them a portion of every sale, do this a couple times and place them in different locations with employees..
Have a ton of other ideas but I don't want to post anything with Bodhy lurking about, guy is a complete fuhking sponge on society
Void, I'm not trying to single you out, was just using an example of a previous conversation.

I don't live off welfare. I have a PhD stipend. That's a payment from a university for doing research. I have multiple degrees. I've basically done my PhD. I present research at conferences. I contribute to the knowledge of humanity, that's what a PhD is. I tutor and occasionally lecture (and that doxxing evidence actually depends on me being both a traveller and a lecturer).
People like me further the knowledge of humanity. People like you build our houses and fix our cabinets. A necessary job for sure, but you exist for us.
Thanks for the side hustle ideas btw.

What matters is the methodology e.g
-how to start with no capital of your own
-how to carve out time in your day to do whatever it is
-how to identify something you do that can be monetised
-being honest about what you will/can do differently to be profitable and successful
-how are the measures of success defined
It’s more about systems thinking and a mindset than any particular get rich quick scheme
