Have a ton collected from when I was a kid. Cards now are pretty worthless. They over-manufactured them so it really doesn't matter the value the books say they are worth most people won't pay much for them unless you do have a one of the few true rare cards.

Same, I have a chit load of baseball and basketball cards. Lots of them are major stars from the 90’s in great condition. Probably all worthless.

No ragrets though, worth it for dem memories of looking at and trading cards with friends, feeling that excitement of opening a new pack, etc.

It's also pretty cool you can go on eBay and find any card you want of your old favorites from the 80's 90's for 1-2 bucks

Only rated cards are worth anything anymore. The rating requirement ruined the industry for normal, everyday fans and collectors. The rise of quality counterfeiting made it almost necessary though.

I sold off most of mine in a few large bulk sales years ago to at least get something for it.

I know a lot about this stuff. Particularly 90s stuff. That chit is selling for insane money, a lot of shilling going on too, srs, the whole thing is dirty, but you can still make the sales off stupid people with more money than brain cells.

PMG, Rubies, Credentials, if you've got any Kobe autos, MJ autos, those are big money, what inserts do you have?

You don't need to grade cards to sell them, but you will probably be leaving money on the table if you don't grade. PSA is crooked and the guy heading it is a two face P.O.S., but they're all shi+ companies, personally I prefer BGS because I'm not giving money to the guy at the head of PSA to help him buy more cards.

I recommend using a consignor when selling, also.

Either those are bad pictures, or that's a base card. The card you're referring to on ebay is a PMG parallel card serial numbered to 50. Look at the back of your card, do you see the serial numbering? If not, it's a base card and it's worth nothing, especially with that damage.

How many employees does PSA have that are grading cards?, how many cards do they go through every day?

If it's serial numbered and it's sports, don't assume it's not worth anything. Retards are throwing money at nostalgia.

It was. Sad. Still found about 40$ worth of Michael Jordan stuff, two of the metal tins and a bunch of those big cards from back in the day. I posted it for auction I mean actually but I think I can get 30 bucks for it. I guess we’ll see I did real good on the old Pokémon cards so I wish I could find more of them but I have sold a couple football cards so far Tom Brady rookie card, some other ones I can’t really remember but nothing crazy on sports so far

post pics of the cards, there are people out there who are caught up in hype and are overpaying for readily available, mass produced, junk MJ cards, if it's graded high they pay even more.

if that was a parallel delgado and graded a 10, it might be worth something

the 90's are considered the "junk wax era". so for intance rookies of that time hardly go for chit, cause they printed so many. you need like rarities and misprints

nowadays, they are more cognizant of the print levels

Most people don't give a chit about misprints, there are very few of these that any one might care about, but for the most part, not something to bank on. 90s are considered junk wax, but you still have morons overpaying for Kobe Topps paper RCs. It's true that the rarities, however, are more desirable, but you need to be careful when getting into high end, a lot of altered chit, a lot of corruption, a lot of scams, and crooks in high end. These people would sell their own mothers for a dollar.

A lot of modern is also numbered garbage, if we're talking basketball, Panini has, overall done a sh!tty job with their license. I don't think Topps is much better with baseball. Rainbows, rainbows, rainbows, all day.

I used to have a chit load and kept a binder full for memories and favorites. Recycled the rest that were worth less than the cardboard they were printed on due to the space they were taking up.

Although the reality of today's market is you got these "high rollers" blowing $10k on a handful of packs hoping for those big pulls - and they pull a bunch of Tom Gugliotta and Wander Franco autos. Sometimes they'll get that $5000 pull, but they still blew a whole car payment to get it. And of course the $$$ thousands they waste on grading fees for their mass produced crap Jordan cards, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
It's a fun hobby and I've been doing it since 1987 (GOAT Topps set that year) and am still doing it, but 2020 covid was the peak...$350 Kobe Topps rookies lol. Right now cards are just overglorified lottery tickets.

I used to co-own a Sports card store.

I sold off most of my collection during Covid when prices were at their peak.

I used Face book Marketplace and Face book Sports Card groups.

I was looking thru my boxes of commons and found 2 Kobe Topps rookie cards for $500 ungraded that we were going to sell at $1 each lol.

Sold those thru Face Book and made a killing.

Many cards have a book value but will never sell for that price.

Case of unopened 1979 hockey cards from Sask. sells for over $5M at auction

I bought a bunch of Ovy rookie cards when he was in his first year in Dc. I need to find a way to get a few signed. They are only going to continue going up in value. Especially when he breaks gretzkys record.

As a Caps fan, I had no idea he’d be this good, I just knew he’d be good so I bought a bunch because I used to collect. Have a bunch of Backstrom and Semin too. Varying years.

Getting them signed may actually lower the value, so keep that in mind

Get 1 signed for your personal collection and sell the rest imo

Wish I was a PSA graded. Could literally sit there grading your own cards as 10's and scam the f*ck out of people with no one ever knowing the difference.

Buy an ungraded card off ebay, grade it a 10, flip it for 5x what you bought it
