I've broke 5 and a 5th metatarsal. Length of time for healing depends on how well it gets set and the nature of the break. Most of mine were around 6 weeks until they were useful again. I have one that has a crook but it's flexible. The metatarsal required surgery and a pin and that took awhile to heal and quite a bit of rehab (including putting my hand in boiling wax as well as putting it into near boiling water). I've also had trigger release issues on all of my fingers which has resulted in 10 surgeries to fix.

I did, whilst playing footy as a youngster. I got tackled into the ground by a few dudes and thought sticking my index finger out to break the fall was a good idea. The finger is still a bit gimpy to this day.
Back off, Warchild.

Kimm, that could just be a nasty sprain. Happened to my ring finger while playing football with a College QB. Fkn guy threw rockets. Doc said it was either a hairline fracture or a bad sprain, and would heal on its own.
Might want to get a Doc to look at it.

What do you think should ice/splint be enough? I've broken toes in the past and you can't do anything for those so I was thinking this is similar lol...

Tbh they were both so long ago that I don't remember, but I think around a month to six weeks. Also there isn't much they can do for them.. Can't really put a cast on a finger, right? Splint is the best they can do, so you'll have to be careful with it.
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

You will need to go to do the doctor for an x-ray, they may need to reset it
Hands and feet you cant do anything but finger can be reset and they’ll give you a splint
Prolly 2-3 months, depending on how severe break
Broken my right wrist twice
Broken my right arm once (recently)
Broken my left wrist once
Broken my ankle once
Dislocated my finger but never broke it

My pinky. I cracked the middle joint when I played basketball in high school. It is now ever so slightly shorter than my other pinky. I think it mostly healed in a few weeks

Closest I had was boxer's fracture on my 5th metacarpal in my hand. It took at least a couple months to heal. It hurt like a bitch for the first few days, was hard to use my hand.
Did you get you get the bone reset and put in a cast or splint?
I hope you feel better.

my gf broke a finger at work. She was shy to take medical leave and never went to doc either. I think she kept re-fracturing it a few times. I broke one toe while wearing vibram 5 finger shoes. Same thing, never visited doctors, never immobilized and of course, re-fractured it at least twice after.
A year ago I dislocated big toe. Looked like fracture, but it was actual dislocation. Took doctor’s advise and kept wearing a spline. Ended up with frozen joint. Can’t bend big toe, no matter what I do, it has been a year.
Your finger look like fracture to me.
