Depends on where you live, here in Louisiana if someone is attempting to break into your house you can blast them through the door or window before they’re actually inside.

You can shoot them if they are facing you, but not if they are taking off.

So basically if they see you and don't turn around and take off, you can shoot them. But you can't shoot them if they ran off.

If you live in a duty to retreat state you had better have a very good reason to shoot them otherwise it can easily be turned on you. If you are in a castle doctrine or stand your ground state fire away the second you feel threatened in your home.

Well, it depends up the circumstances and location. Here in Florida there is something called Stand Your Ground. I believe that is what it is called. If you feel your life in threatened then you can defend your self. You shouldn't shoot someone in the back if they are trying to flee, after breaking into your home for an example. If they are in the house though, and felt to be a threat, you do have the right to protect you and your family, even if that means killing the intruder.

In northern blue states and cities, government officials do not want you to defend your self or your property. It is a bit strange in a way. they have been defunding the police in blue cities and states, and they are prosecuting those that defend themselves from harm.

Gang members seem to be an exception. Shooting a gang member in Chicago appears to only be a $25 fine. gang members shooting each other often times are not even prosecuted in Chicago I've read about a couple times.

Sadly in todays world you need to check not only state law but county laws.

Somethings sound super unconstitutional, Such as FL has a 3 day waiting period on gun purchase. Hillsborough Country (tampa FL) is a 5 day waiting period. WTF?

Depends.

Depends on the State, and what exactly they did and where you shot them. To be safe make sure you know the laws in your State, and shoot to kill, in the front if possible, basically always remember that your lawyer will have to argue and prove that you feared for your life and were actually physically attacked or had imminent threat to your life like if a guy charged at you or had a gun on him etc.

Even more retarded is that you will be legally much better protected if you first warn him that you have a gun and fear for your life and will shoot him… But then this would give him time to react etc. It’s a tough situation. Basically shoot if you fear for your life and remember you will have to defend this decision in court. His family will sue you for 25 million etc.

As an example, here in NY I can not shoot someone unless they enter my home, driveway is ok for them to be at apparently… you can not fire to the street, BUT if you are fired upon from outside only then you are allowed to shoot to the outside from your house etc.
