It's not just lack of dingers that give it such a low crime rate. It's also one of the most empty states.
Maine has a current population density of just 43.1 people per square mile, over an area consisting of 35,380 square miles, which makes it the least densely populated state in New England, the American northeast and the eastern seaboard, as well as all states with an Atlantic coastline and all of those states east of the Mississippi River.

From what I’ve heard about it. If you move there, and your family doesn’t go back generations, the locals don’t want chit to do with you.

lots of Asian and Indian people in Cambridge.
don't remember a lot of black people.
they were there but def. in the minority.
students of course.
but rich educated people are usually pleasant to be around.
race doesn't matter.

To be fair though that's true of any small, sparsely populated place.

I grew up in a town of less than a thousand people, and 99.5% of the teachers in the school grew up and went to school there. The other .5% are usually young idealistic recent college grads who applied for, and landed their first job there.. And everything goes ok for them - for their first couple of years. Then the rumors start circulating...

"He's a drunk!"

"She's a lesbian!

"He cussed and/or abused out a student!"

And none of them were ever really welcome there anyway, so they GTFO - and are usually replaced by another young idealistic grad who just happened to grow up there.. Which is what everybody wanted anyway. Rinse and repeat... generation after generation.
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

I have two places in Maine
Maine has plenty of places where industry moved out and it is full of just drug addicts
You have lots of small towns where the main employment is just getting on SSDI and collecting (even young people)
Where you have diversity it is Black, Muslim East Africans
Annoying as fawk people. ****lians (s. o. m. a. li a n. s. is blocked on misc. weird)

The craziest thing is Chinese grow houses in Maine now
You can get rural houses where no one will bother you so Chinese nationals bought HUNDREDS of houses and illegally turned them into grow houses
Maine doesn't have the resources to shut them down without the federal governments help

80% of Maine is empty AND privately owned
It is mostly tree farms but you can access the land
I regularly drive four hours on the logging roads and see zero cars (well other Trucks/SUV)

White drug addicts are the biggest threat

The cities in Maine (coastal) and VERY liberal and very white
You even have Gay cities in Maine
The local joke is if "you drop your wallet in Ogunquit you kick it to Wells". (the next town)
If anyone ruins Maine it will be White Liberals

What kills me in the irony. According to non-whites, white people are the most violent and horrible people on the planet, but yet dark skinned people flock to white areas.
